IdahoPilgrim Provisional Member Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 But he HAS to stop going 3-0 to leadoff hitters... Nice recovery, though.
mikeee Provisional Member Posted May 30, 2012 Author Posted May 30, 2012 1-2-3 again. one more strikeout.
NorthwestTwinsFan Provisional Member Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 Willingham hit that ball really, really far.
IdahoPilgrim Provisional Member Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 Alright, there we go. Now, with a 4 run lead, can Frankie pitch into the seventh (or even the eighth)?
mikeee Provisional Member Posted May 30, 2012 Author Posted May 30, 2012 3 walks for mauer this game.
jeffk Verified Member Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 Frankie pitch, but so far it is his best start of the year. Hopefully a trend is developing...Haha... "Frankie" and "trend" in the same sentence.
IdahoPilgrim Provisional Member Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 Haha... "Frankie" and "trend" in the same sentence.Given that the trend has been all bad, I'll take this with sugar on top. Easily his best performance of the year, when we needed it most!
striker_86 Provisional Member Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 sit him down now, he has done enough. Nice start by Francisco.
mikeee Provisional Member Posted May 30, 2012 Author Posted May 30, 2012 He is having a seat in lieu of Alex Burnett.
Scheherezade Provisional Member Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 Wait, six shutout innings by Liriano? Say it ain't so! How many Ks?
IdahoPilgrim Provisional Member Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 Wait, six shutout innings by Liriano? Say it ain't so! How many Ks?Nine. .
NorthwestTwinsFan Provisional Member Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 I think there's a good chance we'll see Butera behind the plate for Liriano's next start.
glunn Community Moderator Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 I think there's a good chance we'll see Butera behind the plate for Liriano's next start.I hope that you are correct. They seem to have made a good connection today.
TwinVike61 Provisional Member Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 Put it in the books...a 3 hit shutout. Yes!!
NorthwestTwinsFan Provisional Member Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 I hope that you are correct. They seem to have made a good connection today.Absolutely. I'll take an 0-3 from the 8-hitter if it means 6 shutout innings from the starter.
Montecore Verified Member Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 I'd say this was astonishing, but you never know with this guy. Good to see, tho'.
nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 Absolutely. I'll take an 0-3 from the 8-hitter if it means 6 shutout innings from the starter. As long as Mauer is the DH and not 1B where he has a .569 OPS this year. I'd prefer to not have a negative WAR at 1B and C everytime Liriano pitches.
TwinsGuy55422 Provisional Member Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 It was a great win today and nice series sweep. I know the A's are not a good team, we've got to start some where. There were several positives to take from Liriano's outing: good velocity, nice break on his slider, better mechanics for the most part, and not imploding at the first sign of adversity. Let's hope this continues.
