The Minnesota Twins beat the Rays Tuesday at Target Field thanks in large part to Willi Castro's go-ahead two-run homer. Joe Ryan struck out seven in his first outing against his former organization and Louie Varland supported him with 2 1/3 shutout innings of relief. Down in the minors, Yunior Severino slugged his 33rd home run of the season and Chris Paddack had an impressive start with Wichita. The Kernels started their three-game playoff series in disappointing fashion, losing a one-run game while blowing a golden opportunity in the ninth inning.
