  1. some players needed rest immediately. Kepler for one, resting Berrios is okay too, the Twins are down to two starters, bullpen games in the playoffs are inevitable. There goal was to win the series. They did that, They are in good shape, they will win the division easily if they can get healthy
  2. yes an absolute must, and I believe the Twins will do that. For some reason they have a hard time at home, so just keep winning on the road and they’ll be fine, yet they need to at least break even at home
  3. Starting Sept 3, 3 at Boston then 6 at home vs Cleveland then Washington., then to Cleveland for 3 more. Those 12 games are what makes or breaks the Twins this season
  4. I think AL pitchers especially, should never get involved in this kind of unwritten justice. How do you retaliate against them? They don’t stand in the box. And if an eight run lead is in surmountable then just forfeit the game and go home, or you you’re tired of the other team scoring so much then stop them. That pitcher should have been ejected and fined
  5. You have to give up something to get a good starting pitcher. The Twins offense is among the best but without pitching they will be one and done if they even make the postseason. The window for postseason opportunities are usually pretty small as far as the Twins are concerned. I see the Twins squandering this opportunity, and why not, attendance is up no need to take risks at this time.
  6. Syndergaard would be a good fit, I could see him sounding the gjallarhorn at a Vikings game
  7. Could someone give a rational explanation as to why the Twins could not get Stroman, as the Mets got him for almost nothing. My theory.....almost nothing is still too much for the Twins.
  8. I don't know why anyone would even think Mauer is going to demand a huge contract with a long extension. Has he ever even hinted towards anything like that? A lot of the negativity around Mauer seems to be based on the assumption that he's a greedy ballplayer who cares about money more than anything else. I'd be willing to bet that if he wants to stick around he'll take whatever they offer him. And if I knew him, which I don't, but I have a feeling he would be happier playing for less money. I know I'm tired of hearing $23M every time he GIDP or goes 0 for 4, I'm sure he is too.
  9. Even informed fans seem to retroactively react to his contract. I wonder how many of these same fans would have reacted if Mauer accepted a larger contract with the Yankees or Red Sox, or a list of other teams who would have paid him more than the Twins offered him. (I can see "fans" throwing quarters at him from the seats on $1 beer night)
