  1. Nick Gordon is the son of pitcher Tom "Flash" Gordon and the brother of Dee Gordon of the LA Dodgers.
  2. Having been to most Miracle home games (season ticket holder), this is the best team I have seen in years. I think it is better than the year they had Joe Benson and Chris Parmelee. Everyone focuses on Sano and Rosario, but this team is well-rounded and the pitching is coming through. A new manager has given this team a new attitude, they don't give up. As a spectator in the stands, you can feel the chemistry of this team. It is fun coming to the ballpark.
  3. Am a season ticket holder for the Miracle. This team is fun to watch. 90 degrees in Fort Myers with a nice breeze. Will be at the game Monday night. Miracle take on the Palm Beach Cardinals. Go Miracle!! Great hitting and great pitching equals a win.
  4. David Ortiz of the Boston Red Sox is in Fort Myers for rehab. He was at tonight's game of the Miracle vs. Bradenton. He started his career at Fort Myers.
  5. Holiday Greetings from Fort Myers. Wishing everyone at Twins Daily a prosperous anda winning New Year. I will be checking out Hammond Stadium after January 1 to see who is working out. During December I have been seeing a number of the minor leaguers: Alex Wimmers, Madison Boer, Matt Summers, Joe Benson, and some others. Go Twins!!!!
  6. Jake Mauer was named manager of the Cedar Rapids Kernals (Low A). Sounds like a demotion to me since he was manager of the High A Fort Myers Miracle for the past 3 years.
  7. Was out to Hammond Sradium this morning and Joe Benson is in Fort Myers. He has been working out in the mornings on the back practice fields.
  8. Hello from Fort Myers. I was out at Hammond Stadium this morning and saw Kyle Gibson and about 4 other Twins (Minor leaguers) working out. Also have heard that Joe Mauer has been out to Hammond in the mornings.
  9. Many of you are forgetting that Matt Garza and Scott Baker pitched together on the Twins in, I believe, 2006 and 2007. Am sure he checked out what Matt had to say about the team. Also Carlos Gutierrez is now with the Cubs. Finally, Theo has had enough years as GM of the Red Sox to see what the Minnesota Twins have through spring training. It seems like the Twins were playing the Red Sox every week in spring training. Maybe Lariano will be the next new Cub? It is always interesting to read what other fan blogs have to say about the players they pick up. For Chicago Cubs fans the best one to read: www.chicagocubsonline.com
  10. As a Fort Myers resident (ST season ticket holder and Miracle season ticket holder), where were the Twins when it came to this election? Their heads were in the sand. There was an organized effort by outside special interests to defeat Ray Judah. There is a very strong anti-baseball contigent in Lee County. BTW, the hotel/motel taxes pay for baseball. When you as a Twins fan stays in one of hotels, part of the tax you pay goes to the Red Sox stadium. Also this stadium is used by the GCL team. The Red Sox GCL team uses the stadium for their games while the Twins GCL team plays on an outer field. As for the Twins to play hard ball, forget it. I have not read a single post here of where the Twins would go for ST. What community in FL and AZ would pay for a stadium. How many Twins fans want to pay higher airline costs to fly to AZ? The Twins do not sell out their ST games, saw plenty of empty seats at some of the games.
  11. The game is an "All-Star" game. One can see clearly that the large markets have a bigger say on who makes the team. I know when I went to the All-Star game in Atlanta years ago, I wanted to see the big names or the face of the organization not necessarilly who is having a good season. Does the manager of an All-Star team pick Chipper Jones or Bryce Harper? For many fans at an All-Star game this may be there only chance to see a future Hall of Fame player like Chipper Jones. If a young kid travels 200 miles for his first Twins baseball game, which player would he be very disappointed not seeing play, Willingham or Mauer?
  12. The team is the Daytona Cubs, not Dayton.
  13. About time for Valencia to be demoted. This guy thinks he is much better than anyone else. He is the only player that I have ever met that refused to sign his rookie card.
  14. The march to 100 continues. How does this record compare to last year? Time for a manager change by the All-Star break. Bring in Terry Francona for manager. Bring in Ned Colletti from the Dodgers for GM. This team needs a heart transplant to continue living.
  15. Actually the Saturday night game is: St. Lucie Mets @ Fort Myers Miracle. It is not Palm Beach here.
  16. Does anyone know the name of the song that Brian Dozier used when he was with the Fort Myers Miracle? When I lived in Atlanta, I remember that Bobby Bonila used "Bad to the Bone" and in Chicago Keith Moreland used the theme from the TV show "Dallas". Trevor Hoffman had a great song and show when he came on the field to clsoe a game in San Diego.
  17. I noticed some names missing: Kyle Gibson and Anthony Slama.
  18. I like Michael Gonzalez as the sleeper for Fort Myers. Flys under the radar and this is the year he will be noticed. Also look for Dan Rohlfing to move up to AA. He is coming into his own defensively and improved hitting.
  19. To me the game is about pitching. Look at the ballclubs that make the post season, it comes down to pitching. Living in Fort Myers, we can watch the Rays and the Marlins. It will be a tough year for the Twins.
  20. For historical purpose - Eight Men Out and Moneyball For what it is like being a full-blown true fan of a team - Fever Pitch For pure entertainment - Field of Dreams

  22. This roster list (29 names + 3 names on DL )is from today's (3/31/2012) 2012 Spring Training work groups sheet that can be had in the Twins small office by the practice fields at Hammond Stadium. And yes there may be some moves made by Wednesday when the Miracle have their "Meet the Players and Coaches" picnic. I am a full-time Fort Myers resident. I do have season spring training training tickets to the Twins as well as season tickets to the Fort Myers Miracle.
  23. 24. I think you need to check the roster of the Miracle. You will see that Dan Rohfling will be catching more than Rams.
