After watching mostly frustrating 2018 season for the Twins, I felt like I was sucker punched with all of the walk off losses. I was wondering if the Twins were close to some kind of record. Turns out that we are! Check out this MLB.com article by Rhett Bollinger. We tied the franchise record was set in 1964, And are one away from the MLB record. Fortunately, the Twins won today and now close out the season at home. So at least we won't have the infamy of having that record. Will 2019 be a repeat of 1965 - we can only hope! A walk-off loss, shows the inability for the late reliever (whether that is the closer or not) to hold the game. It's obvious we have had a hole in that spot most of the year. I know that the Twins have had a few walk-off wins. What is the differential? And I wonder what the record is for that?

I was able to watch the Twins win in Seattle on Sat in a most unconventional way! Really enjoyed the defense and the double play work of Cedano, Nunes and Escobar. But what about Jepsen? Without him, these late night heroics wouldn't have been. He came in with no one on, poured gasoline all over the place with a hit and a walk. And he kept bouncing balls off the plate. He was ready to light the match, but our infield put the fire out! Can a Save be awarded to fielders? Because, our relief pitcher certainly didn't earn it!

What I'm excited about is that this topic and thread exists at all and Twins are being discussed. We've waited a long 4 years to talk about Twins being in the post season as September dawns!

Will the Twins finish in last place?

Another question related to this - will the Twins reach 90+ losses again. We are at 55-56. 51 games left. We would need to go 17-34 to hit 90 losses. There are 16 series left in the season. At our current rate, we have been winning only 1 game per series. We have not won a series since the All-Star break. Could the Twins lose out for all remaining series? Assuming at most 1 win per series, that would put us at 16-35 for the remaining schedule. And a 71-91 season record. This might even result in the worst record in the American League (again). But I don't think we will get the top draft pick. Miami and Milwaukee are way ahead of us there. -

The flip side of these additions to the line up is who will be removed to make room. I agree with puckstopper1 in that barring injuries we have a log jam of starting pitching and position players. Only the bullpen looks like it will see significant churn. So will starting pitchers in the minors like May and Meyer and Berrios become relievers for a year or two? It happened with Johan. Of course, most fans were screaming at Gardy/Andy to let him start(remember the good ol days!).
