  1. That sentence can easily be read to say that May IS having a substantially better season......but STILL isn't the reason he is on the list.
  2. I stand corrected. This might be the saddest! Jason Bartlett will make the Twins as a reserve infielder and center field option, tweets Phil Miller of the Minneapolis Star Tribune. The 34-year-old had previously agreed to bump back his opt-out date. Though he has played exactly one MLB game at a position other than shortstop (a single 2004 appearance at second), Bartlett will apparently see some time in the outfield. He finds himself in position to break camp after taking just 98 professional plate appearances over the last two seasons.
  3. That is saddest thing I have read in a long time!
  4. Based on last years games that Pinto had with the Twins, he 'held his own" behind the plate. Suzuki is no Butera and maybe a "slight" upgrade defensively over Pinto. If they are very similar defensively...give me the guy who you think will carry a bigger bat.
  5. It probably has been noted and I have missed it......does anyone know specifically what the drug was he was suspended over? PED? Weed? TY
  6. i think Steve was just commenting that you were getting your info on Thorpe from about a year and a half ago regarding Thorpe's weight. That being said, I also loved your reports and read every single one of them! TY!!
  7. I hope I am wrong about Kepler...but I am not seeing him as a top 20 prospect. 5 years from now if he were to make the roster I can see his best(not average) year being 240 BA, 18 HRs. This would mean he would never play first base for the Twins before several of the other guys on this list. I think he has 4th outfielder written all over him...if he makes it at all.
  8. Seems to me the only realistic "hope" is a full year of Arcia. The rest are based around the improvement of guys who have a proven track record below that improvement level.
  9. I just don't get the love for Kepler. But we go him young...and we do like them young! He is still 3-4 years away at best in my book.
  10. Only reason to be optomistic about Pelfrey is if you feel he will be MORE effective after the surgery than when he was previously healthy.....that won't happen. This is wasted $$$$. I personally don't care if the Twins waste their money.....unless they are avoiding other guys because they are "out of money."
  11. Pelfrey completely healthy would produce #3 starter numbers...maybe 4.5 ERA. 8-15 months after TJ and we can expect 5.5+ ERA at BEST. Not sure what Twins are thinking.....but he will not be viable option this season.
  12. Check this out...Diamond Rule 5 Drat pick looking better all the time! According to the Twitter feeds of the Atlanta Braves beat writers, right-handed relief pitcher Billy Bullock has been suspended 50 games after violating the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program. This is his second violation. It was apparently not a PED, but a "drug of abuse." Bullock was acquired from the Minnesota Twins two years ago in exchange for starting pitcher Scott Diamond. Bullock has shown promise as a hard throwing reliever, holding opponents to low batting averages and racking up high strikeout totals, but he has also tallied high walk totals throughout his career. He was highly regarded as a bullpen prospect, but that excitement has been tempered by his lack of progress this past year. He has spend the majority of the past two season at double-A Mississippi, and did not fare well in a late season promotion to triple-A. The suspension will begin at the start of the 2013 regular season.
  13. that guy needs to stick to his dog walking job
  14. I don't like it. Mauer is a double play machine if the leadoff hitter happens to get on base. We need a guy who can lay down a bunt, hit the opposite way, etc to give Mauer a guy standing on 2nd base when he comes to the plate.
