The good: We have current young players that play the same positions as our top prospects and Lewis Diaz is breaking out as another 1B. The bad: Really good starting pitchers and relievers cost an arm and a leg. Examples being Gleybar Torres for Chapman and Francisco Mejia for Brad Hand. We could have covered Closer or SP by paying Kimbrel or Keuhcel. Now there’s a good chance we’re missing at least 2 of Lewis, Kirilloff, Brusdar, Balazovic, and Larnach going into next year to cover our major weaknesses. I’d have a really hard time seeing this current team beating the Astros or Yankees in the playoffs.
