It's amazing how much children can grasp right from a young age. Encouraging creativity in a child is one of the things every parent should do. Toys which encourage creativity in kids can be broadly classified into three main categories - arts, crafts and music. They commonly involve hands-on activities like making a craft project, painting, coloring, drawing, clay modelling etc. Art related activity toys concentrate on the aesthetic side of things, encouraging the use of colors and shapes. Great choices are kits which include everything you need to get started in painting, drawing, water color painting, oil pastel painting etc. You don't need to get too complicated to encourage creativity. A basic set of crayons and a pad of paper are all that it takes to spark off your child's creative instinct. Nowadays, you can choose from a wide variety of art related products like markers, which come in the erasable and washable type for the little ones, watercolor palettes, crayons which come in a myriad of colors including special effects like glitter, two tone colors and more, glitter glue and more. Craft related toys happens to be my favorite category of creative toys. There are so many project choices to choose from. Ready made kits include all you need to get started on projects like making your own jewelry box with a picture frame for the grandparents, by beading, knitting and sewing. Most of these projects are fairly straightforward, but younger kids may need parental supervision to get going. The disadvantage of buying ready made kits is the price. If you're budget conscious, try visiting a speciality crafts store where you can pick up various raw materials for a craft project. The sky is the limit when it comes to creating a special something, with lots of great craft ideas available for almost every occasion. Music related creative toys include toy instruments like pianos, guitars, drums and many more. It's wonderful to encourage your child to play a musical instrument. Some of the musical toys are quite comprehensive and include easy to follow instructions which will guide your child through the learning process. Some of the toys hook up to your TV or computer and you can actually see the visual instructions and demonstrations. It's a great idea to start off kids when they are younger with simpler musical toys, and work your way upwards onto the "teaching" type of musical toys. Creative toys are mostly "hands-on" type of toys. There's a lot more out there if you keep your eyes and ears open, such as stuff toys for kids which are more important to give kids security.
