  1. First off Duensing and Swarzak have started before and we all know they can pitch, so why sign kris johnsons, josh johnson, pelfreys, worleys, when you can work within the organization, would be much easier and cheaper finding middle releivers than it is excellent starting pitchers for low costs. Lets face it the Twins are a very cheap organization! Instead of spending $10 million for one starting pitcher hoping they will pan out, why not just make swarzak/duensing a starter and save that $10 million, for nothing. These starters are getting very Expensive!! Josh Johnson $8 million with a 2-8, with a 6.20, sorry to say, but I'd feel more confident in starting Scott Diamond, he had a better year than that! Swarzak and Duensing were confronted end of last summer and asked if they could start, i remember that, and that led to know where. But come this spring the twins can have them adjust and work with them as starting pitcher instead of relievers. We were in disparate need for middle relievers last year, cause 5 out of 8 days we had to rely on the bullpen! This year we can find time to replace the two starters we needed with Duensing/Swarzak or both, and have time to find new middle relievers to replace duensing/swarzak. But what about all our back-up position players starting! Oh my!
  2. Well when the Twins are SERIOUS about signing Arroyo, then yes why wouldn't they sing him to a 3 year deal, would be dumb not to, but Twins can't afford him! He made over $16 million last year, so your looking at a 3 year/$50-$51 million just to talk with him! ain't gonna happen, other decent pitchers, Vargas signed a 4yr/$8 mil, johnson signed a 1yr/8 mil. Could have went with both those, but johnsons numbers looked terrible last year, so who knows how much the other good arms are going to cost. It's gonna get spendy, would be easier and cheaper for a trade with our great minors.
  3. right now all i see i Ubaldo Jimeniz wants around $9M-10M per year, decline $8M from CLE Chris Capuano LAD Declined a $8M offer could get for $5M-$6M no clue what other pitchers want, but I'm sure many better pitchers want much more than that!
  4. Great Post Riverbrian! I do agree with you like 90-95% we can all see what is going on. I like Ervin Santana! But in business, it is tuff to get guys to come to minnesota to play in the snow for the first month then you have 1 month of nice spring, then 2 months of high humidity in the 80's-90's and then cools off fast on cool september nights. also there is the cost factor, need to get cheap where cheap is due, yes get rid of doumit, trade bait, who doesn't need a descent RF/DH/C he is alright of a player! Worley just needs to go, see if we can get a 50th round draft pick for him. Diamond needs to prove himself again, Albers/Gibson Scare me! never knowif they'll get knocked out in the first or 2nd, or go the distance! Hendriks, i gave up on him, since he can't win ball games, if we could find a few more pitchers like Swarzak and Duensing who have shown they can pitch, and pitch the innings, would be great! they deserve more I'll tell you that right now. We have a great pen! sure Roenicke and pressly, i remember gave up lots of runs at times, but they come back next few games and pitch great like the rest of the pen does all season long, Perkins will need more money when his contract is up too, he is a top 5 closer in the game also! Great work Twins on the bullpen! Pinto at catcher, hope he leaves off where he did this past fall, herrmann is great backup there and OF. Mauer good luck at first Dozier I love at 2nd (All-STAR 2014) Florimon, hit the ball please! Bartlett is lighting the fire plouffe i think hes trying to work himself out of a job willingham stay healthy please mastrionni, hit the ball better we need you healthy and on the bases arcia bring back the power doumit you got dh buxton, if your ready we'll need you rosario you'll be fresh 2nd half sano, plouffe may just hand you his job! pressly welcome parmelee not much room for a player who has potential but will never prove it hicks get your average up, we love everything about you, but your stinky average! escobar utility man colobello also needs to learn how to hit, you got power, need you on base too! fryer whos fryer? meyer, may, gibson, worley, ibarra, johnson, darnell, polanco, vargas, kepler, santana, The Twins need you guys, your time is this year, there is a reason why you are on the 40 man roster! half these guys wont be here 2 years from now anyways!
  5. WAR = Wins Above Replacement, Correct? so i wonder what Miguel Cabreras WAR is? the Allstar MVP compared to. wait better yet! Robinson Cano 7.2 compared to Eduard nunez -1.5, that makes perfect sense as to what WAR is good for! just shows how much better your starter is that plays everyday compared to the back-up facing the tough pitching in tough situations, pretty much worthless, yes, I do agree with you!
  6. Seriously people? why not get a good middle reliever, this welker is due for the big show! another middle reliever to bring up swarzak/duensing as a starter, they've started before and we know they can pitch! yes worley needs to go, cant we just waive him? diamond, who knows he was good in 2012, but could not put it together after surgery, hopefully he just needs a nice well rested offseason! As of right now the Twins Depth chart for starting Pitching is Correia, Deduno, Albers, Hendriks, and Diamond, all i can say is EEKS!! Last years were Worley, Corriea, Pelfry, Hendriks, De Vries. I remember I felt ok with this rotation until the 3rd-4th week in the season when i think we only had 4 wins from the starters and 9 wins from the releivers!
  7. OMG!! Twins organization, i hope something well goes planned this offseason! why did we need to give back talent with duke welker for another aint gonna get no better kris johnson. sad! I think I'd rather see Liam Hendricks back on the mound. Swarzak or Duensing can do better than most of our starters! too bad they are too useful to us in the bullpen! Pelfrey did show signs in the 2nd half of a .500 starter thank goodness. Corriea is good, Deduno will hopefully be healthy, Albers we have no clue what he's going to do, hopefully be around .500 for us. so we still need 2 or at least 1 great starter. Will take a lot to coax a good starter to come to Minnesota, or maybe try and get someone to come back!? tons of holes to fill for position players also. Catcher? Pinto, Hermmann? 1st is Mauer, will he ever get a shot at All-Star again? Brian Dozier will be All-star this year, Deduno ss? he does have descent defense but he needs to learn how to swing a bat, maybe Molitor or Mauer can show him. Plouffe, would be nice to get his power back. Willingham, needs to stay healthy, need him! Center, Alex Pressly? hopfully hicks can hit .250+ he has everything else a centerfielder needs, just needs to hit consistantly Also, and i guess Arcia and Doumit are good enough for right field at the moment. Good Luck Twins, please find us better starting pitching! PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE!! lets aim for 82 wins next year and have a winning year! Gosh that would be nice!
