With the Rule 5 Draft coming up during the Winter Meetings, the Twins went ahead and protected six Rule 5 eligible players by adding them to the 40-man roster. This year was more clear-cut on who would be added and who would be left off, but there were still two names that came as somewhat of a surprise in the Twins' decisions with them.

Bailey Ober had the worst year of his career in 2025. If an offseason full of rest helps him heal from a nagging hip injury, which is exactly what he needs, then the Twins have some better stabilization in their starting rotation, whether or not they trade Lopez and/or Ryan.
