In the Pablo Lopez trade, the Minnesota Twins lost their best hitter in 2022, Luis Arraez. While it hurt to see him leave because he was a fan favorite, it was a good move for the Minnesota Twins. Luis Arraez won the AL batting title by slashing a .316 avg with .795 ops. While he was one of the best hitters in the league, we got an ace in return. Pablo Lopez has been a part of this Twins pitching rotation which has been the best we have seen in a long time. With a hole in the lineup, the Twins focus has to be on the offense.
Adding Joey Gallo, Donovan Solano, Kyle Farmer, and Michael A. Taylor in the offseason made it clear the Twins were targeting depth. Now it is the end of April and we have seen many ups and downs in the offense. A very slow start to the year offensively for key players such as Carlos Correa and Jose Miranda. Buxton went through a slump for a few games but has been lights out since an opposite-field double against the Nationals. Jose Miranda slapped two home runs in the blowout game against the Yankees where we went down 11-2 early. Since returning from injury Jorge Polanco has been one of the best hitters in the league. Besides the home run/double/tagged-out blunder against the Royals, Polanco has been lights out.
There have been a lot of ups and a lot of downs with the Twins offense this year. However, they have started to heat up in the past weeks, but with Correa still struggling, will it be enough?
