  1. For sure kab21, I think we all agree he should not be rushed. But let's detach ourselves from the #3 starter projections, and become enchanted with the mystery of what Berrios could become. We should never pigeon-hole a prospect with dominant numbers, and say ,"well, he is only gonna be a 2nd tier guy in the bigs. So we can reign in our expectations and not expect anything great from him." I suggest we imagine what is possible, rather than downplay whatever summit a player may reach. Its a lot more fun anyway. And with all these teenagers in the Twins system, there are a whole lot of summits that will be reached far in to future seasons.
  2. Zero...and I know. Are you Hitler? Or is that just an innocent profile picture? As for McCarty...He may not be one of the "worst" Twins ever., but he surely was one of the most disappointing.
  3. Will any of these four guys pitch in Cedar rapids this coming summer?
  4. How good do you have to be to hit 24 homers in 62 games as a junior at Stanford, but never hit more than 12 in a major league season?
  5. Nick Blackburn had a few decent years, but he is not an answer now. Diamond had one good year as a pro-pitcher above AA. And now he is our ace. Scary to think how bad our staff may really be in 2013.
  6. There are so many reasons why I cannot agree with this prediction. There are so many reasons to believe that Correia is going to get lit up (hopefully not as bad as Marquis). Worley and Diamond are the only sure-fire starters. And there are plenty of reasons to believe Diamond will have stats like he did in AAA in 2011 (not over-powering stuff, a lefty with no movement on his fastball, etc.). For that matter, how much can we really expect out of Worley, who is coming off a minor injury. Moreover....what if one of these sure-fire guys gets hurt in spring training?? how can one predict that pitching will be our bright spot in 2013?
  7. I don't think Arcia will be in the "system" much longer. At least not the minor league system.
  8. Great point! And yes, we could really have something special in Berrios
  9. Can I take a stab at these questions? Thank you! 1. Morneau has a great chance to return to All-Star form. He hit great last July and August, and it looks like he may finally come out of his concussion "daze" 2. Perkins is going to be solid-above-average as an MLB closer next season. He will have an ERA under 3.50 and a great K/BB ratio, but will anyone else? 3. I would love to see what Plouffe can do with 500 Ab's as a third baseman. I predict Trevor hits 28+ HR's and drives in 85 if he get his 500 Ab's...a little risky prediction, but Plouffe showed he can do it. 4. Minnesota will not be happy with the production from Correia, Pelfrey, or Pressly. But, I predict Minnesota will fall in love with Gibson, Hendriks, Deduno, and Vazquez. IMO, those four pitchers are still better than anyone we signed as a FA or picked in the rule 5.
  10. Nothing surprising about these projections here. I am planning to pay much more attention to the Twins' minor league teams than their major league one....in 2013, but here's to hoping for an influx of young talent in 2014-'16!!
  11. There is absolutely NO WAY the Twins EVER start a 19-yr-old at ANY position in the big-leagues. Mauer was a rare exception at 20. No one will ever get to Minnesota that quickly ever again.
  12. Could Rosario put up similar power numbers to Sano next year in Ft. Myers? Kinda like 2011....And if Eddie can....why would Sano be considered a better prospect?
  13. Slama deserves a shot, no matter what his fastball radar reading is....I remember watching Greg Maddux top out at 86-87. Is Slama as good as Muddux? NO! But he has earned a shot to sink or swim with the Twins in Minnesota.
  14. How about a future rotation of: 1. Meyer 2. May 3. Berrios 4. Gibson 5. Boyd/Baxendale/Hendriks/Mata/ whoever is good
  15. And a ton of college arms that are not even on the Top 20 list by MLB.com
  16. How bout David McCarty? He was pretty awful considering where he was drafted
  17. I don't like it, but I agree that is the wisest course of action for Berrios. We need pitching NOW in Minnesota, but its not worth risking guys like J.O. before they are ready for a big-league workload
  18. Who cares how much he got caught stealing?...his offensive numbers were great, and he is gonna be a stud moving forward. Will probably play all of 2013 in Ft. Myers while he learns 2B
  19. Yes, keep starters on a strict pitch count while the weather is cold in Iowa. I am impressed with the number of high-ceiling pitchers we have in A+ and below. Could be a very solid Twins staff by 2015.
  20. Yes! DJ Baxendale! Cant wait to see what he can do with a full season as a starter.
  21. Wow! That's a fresh take on Sano....I just can't see him striking out less than 100 times in a full season. He might hit 30 HR's though. My money is on the Twins keeping Sano/Rosario at A+ all year. I do NOT see either Sano or Rosario moving from their respective postions (at least next year). They need to learn 3B and 2B, and the organization will give them a full year in Florida to do it. In 2014, they get their first serious audition at New Britain with a chance to be Sept call-ups
  22. Do you think he will have enough time in Low-A to dominate enough? Considering he may not join Cedar Rapids until the weather is "nice"
  23. What Eddie has that Sano does not: speed, ability to play defense up-the-middle, ability to not strikeout so dang much, better batting average.
  24. Eddie will get BETTER! After 2013 we will have a different Top 10 prospects list with Rosario rated AHEAD of Sano.
