  1. Hopefully, if they sign him he'd be more like Grady Hitmore or sumthin. Tsk tsk tsk.
  2. Well, now that he has a plan, I see this working out. I wonder why the Twins always wait for someone to fail, go down to the minors and get another chance before they develop a cohesive plan for their success. It's good we have it figured out now though.
  3. To increase what we'll get for him in a trade?
  4. Tsk tsk. . .This feels like all the times my dad said he'd quit hitting my mom.....or something.
  5. I understand and I would prefer Edwin Jackson to Cole DeVries. I guess my point was simply that if I could magically gurantee that Cole DeVries will pitch EXACTLY like he pitched last season, but for that magical gurantee you'd have to pay him $32 million dollars over the next two seasons, people would immedietly turn that deal down.
  6. I am as sick as everyone else of the Twins not spending money, however, I can't help but think that Edwin Jackson is overrated. To put it into perspective: Cole De Vries (in the AL) 5-5, 4.11 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, 6.0 K/9, 1.8 BB/9, 9.0 H/9, approx 5 innings pitched per start. Edwin Jackson (in the NL) 10-11, 4.03 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, 8.0 K/9, 2/8 BB/9, 8.2 H/9, approx 6 innings pitched per start Don't get me wrong, I'd rather have Jackson than De Vries, but Jackson is not that good. He is nowhere near 16 million per good. He makes the ball miss the bit a bit more than De Vries (not much career 6.9 K/9), he allows about as many baserunners (most years he allowed significantly more) and he walks slightly more hitters than De Vries did last year. So maybe I'm missing something in the advanced statistics world (could very well be the case), but isn't Edwin Jackson simply a guy who was marginally better than De Vries last season?
  7. I think Diamond is our opening day starter. That said, your lineup looks about right and I agree, it's an awful team. I think this team eventually needs to move Plouffe to RF and it might as well be this year (IMO). I think we need to move either Morneau or Willingham and bring back more young talent.
  8. I have no problem with Liriano on a minor league deal or a 1 yr - 3 million dollar type of thing. If we could get a hot month or two out of him, he'd be worth it. If he starts struggling, well, we send him down and see what happens.
  9. I'd bring Baker back for a one year deal. It seems like the whole "it takes a season to recover from TJ surgery" idea is real, so my expectations aren't very high. If we had a little more depth in our pitching ranks, I probably would not want him back. As far as the nastiness of this site, it's like some of the posters here got up on the wrong side of the wall or somethin...tse tse tse
  10. The only reason why I don't mind Anderson sticking around is that I think a large portion of the problem is not his fault. It's obvious from the way that we draft that the pitch-to-contact obsession is part of the organizational plan. Do we really want Blackburn, Slowey, Hendrix, etc, to go up there and try to blow away hitters? It's not possible. Once at the major league level, everyone we have is an obvious pitch-to-contact guy, what's Anderson supposed to do? It's like he's stuck between baseball and a hard place, or somethin...
