  1. That homerun was hit off the scoreboard in right, but it seemed to take off once it got into the jetstream. I think the ball may have had a chance without the wind but it wouldn't have been a no doubter. Arcia and Farris seemed to think that they had a chance and chased it back to wall. Based on their reaction I think it may have stayed in the yard on a calm day.
  2. I was at the Meyer's start yesterday. He was very sharp for the first three innings, but seemed to lose touch in the 4th. The off speed stuff showed flashes of being dominant but was a bit inconsistent. His fastball sat 94-96 for the first three innings. He seemed to take a bit off in the 4th to regain a bit of control. He did touch 97 in the fifth though. He also had to sit a long time in between innings as the Wings had long scoring rallies in the first and second. One thing to know about yesterday was that it was around 55 with a 20-30 MPH wind blowing straight out all game. Everything was carrying a lot further than it first looked off the bat. I think that it would have been hard to stay loose yesterday.
  3. Because he was put on the MLB DL this time in AAA doesn't stop his clock, I don't believe. I think that I would actually like to see him back up with the Twins to balance out the lineup a bit. He was starting to slowly turn it around when he got hurt.
  4. How has Sano been playing in the field lately? Has he been able to cut down on the errors? If he can, he seems ready for another level (or two).
  5. TR was higher on Meyer than May in quotes this week. I agree with Seth unless May shows better command. I think TR wants him to go to AAA but won't force it if he isn't throwing strikes and being aggressive in the zone.
  6. The Marlins player personnel guy was on TV today saying that they are looking for a right hand hitting catcher. Butera could be a fit if the Twins decide to go with two catchers or keep Herrmann.
  7. I hope Burnett doesn't make the team with all of the other options they have. He has been terrible this spring and doesn't strike people out like you'd want a reliever to do. I would rather see Pressly take that spot. Send Burnett to AAA as insurance and roll with some of the other guys.
  8. I have watched Hendriks a few times, and after each I wonder what all of his supporters see other than the minor league track record. His fastball is below average and his other pitches are worse. His mental approach seems lacking as well. I think I would like to see him traded after a few decent spring training starts. I know the Twins need pitching more than anything, but I just don't see him being any type of answer. The underlying stats even at AAA, to me, don't suggest a run that is sustainable. In my mind he is a AAAA pitcher and that is not ultimately going to lead the Twins back to where they want to be. Am I missing something?
  9. I would like TR asked if he wants the Twins pitching to be a strength of the team and ask him what he thinks of Mike Rizzo's quote:" We used to have sinker, pitch-to-contact guys. That's who you get when you're not elite".It seems to me that the Twins are not elite and may not be all that interested in being elite. Resigning Pavano and getting some bargain basement pitchers similar to Marquis will signal that even more this offseason.
