I'll just chime in that I'm also not buying my share of a 40-game package next year, and I believe the guy who runs it isn't going to renew. After seeing 3 wins of 19 games the past 2 years, going to games this year often felt like a chore. I also no longer watch every game on TV. Most games just feel like a re-run. Nick's article is spot-on, and I have a hard time seeing this being properly addressed.

Very interesting #analysis. I was a bit confused by Johan counting as trade too, but I don't remember all the details around that. I'd tend to think he'd be considered Rule V, since they essentially traded draft picks.

I'm only seeing 1 comment on the first couple articles that say there are many. Win7, FireFox 17.0. Edit: The Gardy article says 85 comments on the front page, but when I open it there are 73. A little different than the others only showing 1 comment.

This completely sums up my issues with far too many commenters on this site. People come in to threads spitting vitriol about how much they screwed up this injury situation or this trade or this draft. For me, this goes all the way back to the Johan trade, since that was around when I started getting into Twins blogs (Gleeman). So many were up in arms because we didn't trade him for Ellsbury and Lester and whoever else, never minding the fact that the Red Sox never offered that package. Yes, the return on Johan was very underwhelming, but for all we know, it was the best offer available. Yes, the injury situation is very frustrating, but for all we know, we've been snakebit and any other team with the same players would've suffered the same fate.
