  1. Plouffe walks in the 5 spot, Bates out to snuff out the rally. 10-1.
  2. Mauer, par for the course, 4-3, Span goes to third (If I was watching TV I'd hear: BERT: He did his job, he got the runner over) Valencia : rbi single.
  3. Carroll ground out after Span reached on an error. Carroll currently .056. Good thing it's early,
  4. 10-zip after 1/2 inning. 15 to the plate.
  5. Brutal. Nice game for the fans to watch in FM.
  6. One out was McGahee thrown by Mauer, so Garrett Jones strikeout was the only out Doyle recorded. Swarzak in.
  7. Doyle found out already today pitching to starters is different than the AZ fall league. Do not give up any prospects to keep this guy.
  8. Cut Doyle. He's getting knocked around already today.
  9. One good season in the minors in the bullpen at FM and NB. And that's it. For an organization that is slow to promote guys, Burnett at AAA first would have made more sense.
  10. Put Swarzak in the rotation, open a bullpen spot for someone else.
  11. If Baker's elbow is troublesome, and he winds up on the DL, do the Twins move Swarzak to the rotation? Duensing? Would open another 'pen spot.
  12. The Twins made their first cuts Thursday morning, sending pitcher Scott Diamond and eight others to their minor-league camp. Diamond was with the Twins for a part of last season and was seen as having a chance to make the team.Others sent down were right-handed pitchers Deolis Guerra and Lester Oliveros, left-handed pitcher Tyler Robertson and outfielders Darin Mastroianni and Oswaldo Arcia. Nonrostered pitcher Aaron Thompson, infielder Steve Pearce and catcher Danny Rams were also sent to the minor-league complex
  13. At least Denudo got to face regulars. Good experience.
  14. Morneau 0-4 drops him to .143, with 2 Ks today. Come on big guy, get it turned around. Sure pulling for him, after all he's been through. Denudo sighting!
  15. Burton and Maloney should be considered at the front. If they're striking guys out, that's what the bullpen needs. More K's,less traffic and contact.
  16. Gray walked a batter, stolen base off Rene Rivera in the 6th, still 5-4.
  17. Manship is working his way to roster spot.
  18. Marquis is doing a poor Blackburn imitation. Best hope is he gets ready, does well and can be traded.
  19. Maloney fanned 3 in 1 1/3IP. Take the best guys north. Burton Swarzak ??? Perkins Duensing ???? Capps Do the Twins go 3LHP? I'd like to see Gutierrez go, but have my doubts he'll have been consistent enough for management.
  20. HAH Between the 2 of them they may have 9 minor league HRs Looks like a decent line. Reminds me of Valencia type numbers.
  21. Get over the Non-Metrodome friendliness. I'd bet, outside the $, one of the biggest reasons Kubel didn't stay. First it's the trees then something else. Too many excuses.
  22. Veteran presence. Stabilizing force in the middle. Last year was so ugly, there was a need to get a veteran. I guess. Personally, the band-aids they put on this team won't make them a winner. The moves don't add up to improving this team. They'll be better defensively, but unlike the preaching by radio/TV(especially) the Twins won't win a lot of low-scoring games. So at some point they have to decide how to improve this team. And in a hurry. That window of opportunity for Mauer/Morneau is closing. If it has not already.
  23. Dozier was a leader on his team in college, and helped them get to the CWS. Played thru injury to help. Been following him since drafted, and have always considered him a guy they should pay more attention to.
  24. The only positive about having Dozier/Benson/Parmelee spend time in AAA(hopefully Herrmann as well) is that they get to spend time with the Twins' next hitting coach.
  25. Why? Just because the Twins kept him in AA over and over again, like they've done with Parmelee and Benson, and probably with Herrmann this year? There is no rule that says a guy has to play in AAA first. I am hopeful by midseason the Twins are realistic about what's going on, deal some vets for help(Doumit/Carroll/pitchers) and truly rebuild. They've blown the best years of Mauer and Morneau by not having a good enough supporting cast. Get the kids ready before they're both too old to help.
