Just a note about civil discourse - I've deleted three posts in this thread. I'v also sent private message explaining why to the members.

1. If you want to criticize someone, keep it on topic. If you want to say it is idiotic to not coach pitching inside and occasionally plunk a batter, that's fine. If you're just calling some guy a fat idiot or craphole, that's off limits.

2. You can't go after other members because you disagree with their opinions. You can go after their opinions - you can't go after them.

I don't want to ban anyone for any period of time. This community tries to respect varying opinions, no matter how crassly people choose to express them. But I've put too much into this site to let inflamatory disrespectful rhetoric become the norm or even acceptable on this site. If that means banning people, that's what will happen.

Please, play nice. We're all on the same team.

Unfotunately, I can't get a box score here. It sounds like Baker was bad (and on the radio they said his velocity topped out in teh 86-88 range.) Then Manship got through the fourth. Then, did Hendricks come in? That would be a little weird.

Can someone tell me Manship's stats? Any Ks?

Walked the first batter he faced. And yes, Hendriks came in after that. PRobably gave him plenty of time to warm up.

Walk

Groundout

Next inning: Single(Zobrist-again), popout,longoria GIDP

Hendriks is starting his 4th inning.

Does anyone doubt that Hendricks is basically pitching for Baker's spot here? Or possibly for Marquis'? Pressure is on, young man....

It sure looks like he is.

At least if Baker starts on teh DL, he would be a candidate!

Between Baker's health issues and Marquis's personal tragedy, I'd be more surprised if he doesn't go north.

Let's say Baker starts season on DL. Who would be another candidate other than Hendricks? They seem determined to use Duensing out of the bullpen. If it is not Hendricks - I would assume it falls to Swarzak. What are your guys/gals opinions?

Baker in the 80's doesn't cut it. Hopefully it's jus because his arm isn't built up b/c he's missed so much time this spring.

Actually giving up 10 RBI games, 9th inning HRs, and letting a slightly better than average player look like Willie Mays for the last 3 years is about as rediculous as it gets...How about the pitching staff try something different for a change...Zobrist is way too comfortable at the plate and that's an undisputed fact.. Looks like the bloggers are as Minnesota Nice as our fantastic starting rotation..

And by average, of course you mean a guy who has put up WAR's of 8.7, 3.9 and 6.6 the past 3 years. Albert Pujol's last 3 years are 9.0, 7.5 and 5.1. Miguel Cabrera's last 3 years are 5.3, 6.3 and 7.3. I'm not saying Ben Zobrist is necessarily that good, but your assertion that Zobrist is "slightly better than average" is absolutely laughable.
