  1. Hard to say that JD Martinez would have turned out like he did with the Twins.... I'd say being protected in the lineup, and being able to learn from Miggy and V-Mart, were pretty huge reasons for his break out.
  2. What are everyone's thoughts if Santana gets DFA'd, does he get claimed?
  3. I think opening day we are looking at Rotation: Santana Gibson Santiago* Hughes* May Vogelsong- Just a feeling he has a good spring and bumps someone from above *I'd like to see Berrios for one of Hughes not being ready yet or Santiago let go Pen: Kintzler Pressly Belisle Rogers O'Rourke/Boshers Chargois Haley- long relief Blanton- I hope we can get him and DFA Tonkin Tonkin (I think they give him another shot, especially if we have 8 guys in the pen and don't sign anyone else) I think Perkins starts the year on the DL, as a precaution more than anything Would like to see Duffey at AAA in the bullpen and one of the first to get a call up
  4. Hildenberger's numbers are flat out nasty, I read in his bio on MLB.com that he's a sidewinder and can throw over the top? Who does he best resemble delivery-wise?
  5. "The projections, likewise, don’t see two similarly valuable players. Steamer projects Dozier for +2.8 WAR per 600 PA, while they have Forsythe at +2.2 WAR per 600 PA. ZIPS sees both as more valuable players, but maintains the same gap, with Dozier at +3.9 WAR/600, and Forsythe at +3.0 WAR/600. That’s nearly an extra win that both systems think Dozier will add in 2017 and 2018, and would have made Dozier an upgrade over what the Dodgers already had in a way that Forsythe is not. And that’s equalizing the PAs, which isn’t fair to Dozier, who has been one of the most durable players in the game the last three years, while Forsythe has only played more than 130 games in a season once in his career." Found this on fangraphs. I think the part in bold provides very good reasoning for the Twins holding out and that Dozier is more than marginally better than Forsythe. FWIW, this piece was written by Dave Cameron, who as we know is very high on De Leon. He even stated last week he didn't think Forsythe was worth De Leon 1 for 1...
  6. I just can't see them moving Mauer or Dozier to different positions for any reason..
  7. I surely hope they aren't just rolling with internal options. I think they should sign Romo and Salas to help the bullpen. I wouldn't be opposed to signing a defensive first SS IF they trade Dozier. I would also be happy if they brought in a guy like Rayburn for the OF and to give the young lefties a break against lefties
  8. This would be absolutely ideal, if Buck can be that lead off guy we are all hoping and praying he can be
  9. I do agree Mauer should be ahead but then who hits 1? Polanco maybe I suppose but Dozier is the only guy we know can do it, and do it well, at this point.
  10. Not a fan either but Bautista sure has something to prove if he wants to get paid big before he retires. He would only make the lineup better, more protection for Sano, allows Dozier to stay at lead off if we keep him. IMO he would net us better than a second round pick at the deadline. Hell I'd probably sign him AND trade Dozier
  11. The Twins weren't playing for anything after they started 0-9, so to discredit his second half saying we weren't playing for anything is a little unfair IMO. He still hit 42 home runs, and was the first American League second baseman to ever hit 40 home runs..
  12. The major difference between Reyes and JDL is that Reyes had a sub 2 ERA in 46 innings at the MLB level last year and looks to be a lights out back end of the bullpen guy at the very least. I don't think there is any chance Reyes is on the table
  13. You think Segura or Gordon are as valuable as Dozier??
  14. I agree with your point, but don't you think they would have enough money available to sign him to an extension? Close to home and they will be good soon
  15. One team no one mentions that I think would be a good fit is Atlanta. Dozier is a southern boy and it would be close to home. They are in rebuild mode as well but I think this would help speed up the process. Imagine the power that lineup could produce with Dozier, Freeman, and Kemp hitting 3-5. They have a new stadium and this would show fans they are looking to win. They also have A LOT of minor league pitching. Thoughts?
  16. Falvey & co waiting isn't necessarily a bad thing, IMO. The NL crown is basically going to be a race between the Cubs, Giants, Mets, Nats, and Dodgers. We have no idea if/when one of the teams besides LA could make a blockbuster deal to improve their team even more so than what we have already seen. If something like this were to happen it would make Dozier even more valuable to LA. I don't think we need to panic that a deal isn't done until early February
  17. I hope they get Feliz, and I hope he becomes the closer. What do you guys think Duffey would top out at with his fastball if moved to the pen? I think if he can add a few ticks to that fastball he could be a solid bullpen piece moving forward, he's got a nasty breaking ball.
  18. I hope the Twins can pull De Leon, Alvarez and Stewart back. 2 starters ready to contribute now and one very high ceiling prospect for 2-3 years down the road. Not sure Dozier alone can fetch this package, but if I was the Twins I would definitely add another piece to get this done if need be.
  19. The best thing we can hope for is that he has a great first half so we can get max value for him at the deadline. No sense in dealing him until then IMO
  20. I think the Eaton trade did nothing but help the Twins. I know it's apple to oranges as Eaton is controlled much longer but the Nats gave up a haul.
  21. I was thinking the same thing, although I think I would be happy with someone like Stripling.
  22. I think it'll be De Leon, Alvarez, Stripling, and K. Ruiz
  23. I was not aware that Pom has 2 more years of control before free agency, I also didn't realize that Buchholz was 4 years older than Pom. I would love to have Pom but he has only thrown 100+ innings once, this year. I definitely think there is some risk with both, Buch would be much cheaper and more of a bridge type as this is his last year before FA. He also might have more to prove for the same reason; he could be a buy low candidate that wouldn't hurt to take a flyer on IMO.
  24. I think Buchholz would cost less and I think he has more upside than Pom. Although I would be fine with either as long as Boston isn't asking too much. I would be happy with E San, Gibson, Buchholz/Pom, Berrios, and whoever to battle for the 5th spot.
  25. Really think the Twins should take a flyer on Bucholtz (sp) now that he is more than likely expendable for Boston
