  1. their other starters haven't been good, but their lineup can still cause problems if you let them get hot, which the twins did tonight. Then you see how good the back end of their bullpen can be (we caught Robertson on a bad day in NY). We already used one of our two solid starters tonight.
  2. 3 ninth inning backwards Ks for the twins to end the game. This team is floundering right now.
  3. Oof, I forgot how irritating the Yankees commentators become when NY is ahead. They were quite somber before things turned around.
  4. youre absolutely right about the peak of the season coming on gibsons great start in Detroit. What were they, 3 or 4 games out of first at that point? The next day they fell behind big and early, and then they had the Arcia circus in right field the day after that. It seems like the ship has been sinking further and further since that series.
  5. Eh, his last start was not as bad as the numbers say. He was left in for far too long against the rangers. He fell apart tonight.
  6. Yes, but other starters not named Hughes or Gibson have been struggling all year,
  7. i was hoping they'd stay competitive and shake off the long losing stretches of the past years, but this thing has started to snowball the wrong way. Without that one great series against the white sox, things have been really awful for several weeks. The Yankees are not very good, which makes this more frustrating.
  8. Twins give that run right back. I think the steam has finally run out of our guys. Just not consistently clicking in any facet of the game in recent weeks. This will be twice in a week that a team on a long losing streak rights the ship against us. Hopefully they can split this series, but not looking good as our best SP exits the game.
  9. Wheels fell off the cart that inning. Not hard to see coming when you have two base running gaffes in the first two innings. Going to be awfully hard to come back against tanaka.
  10. Arcia fittingly strikes out to end it. Shut out for the fifth time this year. Ten road losses in a row. Lowest point of the season, getting lower each day.
  11. Hughes should have been removed after the second batter of the inning reached. He pitched well but was left in far too long and his numbers and our chances to win are marred. Outside of the white sox series, these last two weeks have felt like the last 3 seasons.
  12. I didn't know Texas had lost 8 in a row coming in. Makes this worse.
  13. Man, Arcia looks so incredibly overmatched. Doesn't matter how far he can hit it if he rarely makes contact.
  14. Have to get the bat off your shoulder there..
  15. The twins were pretty good at avoiding long losing/winning streaks until recently. Surprised they've turned so hot and cold so quickly.
  16. This falling behind in the first inning thing is really getting irritating.
  17. Sand-based fields can take unbelievable amounts of rainfall, even in short periods of time, and still be playable. The only way games should be postponed on modern day professional fields are times when it's actually raining non stop. Fields of the old days were built like your home yard with native soils, hence why they could only take so much rain before becoming soft and mushy.
  18. I'm only an amateur weatherman, but I can read a radar with the best of em. There will be baseball tonight!
  19. Yep, because the staff has been so poor for so long now, we're not used to seeing the offense waste successive great pitching performances like these last three games. Every team goes through it. The better ones just learn to bust out of it quickly.
  20. First post here! Yes, Gibson is looking like something we could build on and Hughes has shaken off the early problems to be among the most consistent in the league (this year anyway). It's tough to lose games like the last 3 and start to fall back in the division, but we knew what sort of year this would be going in and I still see lots of positive signs moving forward. Arcia is starting to concern me though. He's been looking very overmatched at the plate and lost in the field..
