best game in the world's Achievements

  1. This is my first attempt at a blog entry. Thanks Twins Daily community. And yes this is a true story. It was a wonderful evening in 1987, my best friend Mark and I had been wondering the streets of Minneapolis for hours, there were hundreds of folks seemingly in the same situation as ours. We saw signs, people dressed in costumes, yelling catchy and witty lines to everyone they passed. Mark and I talked of Hrbek launching another miracle homerun in the 9th. Seeing Bert close down the Royals at the dome on that magical Sunday. All tolled we had made over 40 games that season, what a fantastic night. We dodged cars, ticked off crossing guards, I suppose we could have walked 10 miles, the entire season was recounted. Beating the Tigers and talking our parents into letting us go to congratulate our heros at the Dome with fifty thousand of our closest friends... The game was about to start and it was time to call my Mom and have her come and pick us up, still no tickets. We were making our way to the Twins ticket office area to use the pay phone. " You boys need tickets?" a man dressed in a suit asked. No sooner had he asked, at least 10 people swarmed around him. He told all the other folks to get lost, and asked again "You boys need tickets right?" I mumbled something and he understood it to be a yes. He hands 2 tickets to us, section 114. Mark asks "how much"? The man looks puzzled, pauses and says it "dosen't matter" and disappears in the crowd. That man, Bob Allison.
  2. Kepler at 1st. I like it. See you in 2015!! Now if we only had a place to play that #7 guy.

  4. Great list. Hope Travis Harrison can have a strong power year and show better defense and increase his value.
  5. Wonderful... Made my morning. Just think if we skipped the ladder and used some sort of new electric hoist from Japan or Cuba?
  6. From a fans prospective, Torii was awesome. Great attitude at the ballpark, happy to say hi during batting practice. And as others have talked about, Justin might just have needed a clubhouse flair to spark his career development? I would like to see him playing for the Twins again.
  7. Meyer strikes out the side.
  8. I have to admit, when I saw Gardy walking out with his sun glasses under his chin for the news conference to accept a contract extension, my first reaction was RAGE. We as fans want to cast blame on the manager, I slept on it and I am past that. What I will not be able to forgive is taking "winner" from our crop of young talent (all the top kids have won at every level of the minors and before) and try to force them through the "twins way" cookie cutter. The extra coach had better be a great communicator. Go ahead and pump your fist, kick a water cooler, break a few unwritten rules. We needs wins!!
  9. Great to hear this from Mr. Molitor. My son and I had the chance to do a chalk-talk with Bert Blyleven last night at the stadium before the game. He also spoke of the FO spending and trying to significantly improve the product. Wish in one hand...
