TK10's Achievements

  1. I would have given him 5 years and $80 million, yes, but I never would have given him my heart.
  2. The Massachusetts Institute of Technology's (MIT) new 2013 statistical analysis has been released. Now, when it comes to Punto, some numbers are alarming, which shouldn't be a surprise given his age. First concern: his ability to hit breaking balls from left handed pitchers who are taller than 6-3 has dropped by a 1/4 each year for the last three years. Oddly, his ability to hit breaking balls from left handed pitchers who are between 6-6 and 6-9 has gone up, go figure. Second concern: his dive into first base is, again according to MIT, 1/84 of a second slower than it was in 1999. To me, that's a massive red flag. However, in his defense, the Weather Channel's Hitting In All Conditions (HIAC) 2013 guide has also been released. HIAC notes Punto was a 17 in 2010, a 20 in 2011, and a 22 in 2012. Those numbers blow me away, as I'm sure they blow all of you away. I'm also sure some knucklehead will look at those HIAC numbers and scream "Steroids!" but we all know Punto isn't that kind of guy. In the last analysis, the HIAC numbers out weight the concerns the MIT stats raise. I say bring him back with a modest and team-friendly two-year deal.
  3. Hey yeah, if you can get a cross burner for the right price, might as well do it.
  4. He is an avowed homophobe. We have to own our actions. He claimed he doesn't have anything against gays because the Blue Jays and his agent put a metaphorical gun to his head. Additionally, if he actually, with a straight face, says his actions weren't intended to be offensive, than he's an idiot. Is he entitled to his opinion and free speech and all that good stuff? Yes, he is. But when you spew the kind of nonsense he did, then you deserve to driven out of town on a rail.
  5. I, like most, have made "youthful" mistakes. But I guess I'm skeptical that something like homophobia or racism can ever be an accident or mistake, youthful or otherwise. Having too much to drink and yakking on your buddy's couch is a youthful mistake. Failing an 8 a.m. class because you're too lazy to get out of bed is a youthful mistake.
  6. These guys have to live together for 220 days a year. Attitude matters and someone who's a terrible human being will kill your team. Also, acquiring an avowed homophobe, in a market that just rejected adding homophobia to its state constitution, would really help the Twins acquire and keep the vital 20something demographic.
  7. Hrbek is proof positive that Dean Wormer was wrong. Fat, drunk and stupid is absolutely the way to go through life.
  8. While it's important to note Span's WAR was 4 last season I think you have to crunch the numbers even further to really get a sense of how good and valuable he is. For example, his Advanced WAR was +19 and his Weather Channel Hitting in All Conditions (HAC) rating was 21. With the leather, his SVU defensive readiness survey came in at 38, best among left handed center fielders in the AL Central. Furthermore, his NASA Advanced Positioning Defensive Survey was an 8, and I don't have to tell any of you how staggering that is. Long story short, the Braves better be ready to cough up the good stuff.
  9. About time. Guy's WAR has been slipping for six straight seasons.
  10. Why all this talk about wins and losses in terms of measuring Gardy's performance? Sabermetrics has proven wins and losses is an antiquated stat. Gardy's WAR is still pretty impressive.
  11. Jackass idiot here. Just hoping someone could explain to me why quibbling with WAR fans makes one a jackass. It seems to me the WAR crowd loves to denigrate anyone who still thinks RBI and batting average might, just might, indicate a guy is a good player. It's as if there's a cool kids table element to all of this. As if to say if you don't subscribe completely to sabermetrics you aren't a real fan. Furthermore, isn't it possible that WAR is a bogus stat that, in say 5 years, some other numbers nerd, oops, excuse me, numbers wizard will come along and replace? Anyway, I hope to see you all at the game tonight. I'll be the guy in 225 keeping score like the decrepit dinosaur I am.
  12. I'm fully aware that a handful of former triple crown winners didn't win the MVP, and to me, it's completely idiotic. La Velle E. Neal and the other voters his age didn't see Ted Williams or Honus Wagner play. Or maybe they did, I bet Bill James and the math nerd brigade has a stat proving La Velle saw Teddy Ballgame in person. I admit, fully, to being an idiot because I'm 34-years-old and am still impressed by 133 RBI. I don't care what Trout's WAR is, someone winning the triple crown after 45 years would be remarkable.
  13. "Cabrera has a shot to win the first Triple Crown in a long time and this might be hard for some of the older voters to ignore." Because only the young and hip will vote for Trout thanks to the All Powerful And All Knowing And Entirely Irrefutable Sabermetrics. If Cabrera wins the first triple crown in 45 years and doesn't win the MVP the All Powerful And All Knowing And Entirely Irrefutable Sabermetrics crowd will have officially won.
  14. Get him to verbally agree to become the fulltime DH beginning next season and, sure, why not? If Thome can be an excellent DH into his late 30s, if not early 40s, why not this guy?
  15. PA is, by a mile, the most vile and vomit-inducing cretin to ever be given control of the airwaves. He's an empty-headed jock-sniffer of the highest order.
