  1. I don't see Doumit playing much in right field. I think there are so many lineups. 1.) With Morneau at 1B (means Parmelee in RF), 2.) With Morneau at DH (means Parmelee at 1B), 3.) Days that Mauer plays 1B (or DH).... there are so many options with the lineup. This can be good or bad.
  2. I like that idea better. Revere is still a little younger than Benson, Parmelee and Dozier who we obviously believe need to play every day. Mastroianni already was optioned, so they couldn't promote him again until Opening Day. The other thing is the Mastroianni can play 3 OF spots and he's been playing mainly 2B since he got optioned. Rochester OF of Revere, Benson and Tosoni sounds good to me too. With Wilkin Ramirez and Matt Carson getting some time and DHing.
  3. I think my 'roster math' was off. As Rob Antony said, there are really five players fighting for two roster spots (Butera, Towles, Burroughs, Florimon and Revere). And if we assume Revere is on the roster, there are four people for one roster spot. Parmelee's a given. Means that it's the 3rd catcher or Burroughs, and if it means Doumit is in the lineup more, I'd go with the third catcher. I do like the flexibility of so many players.
  4. My question would be that since Parmelee is up, I'd be surprised to see a 3rd catcher, which to me at least means that Gardy won't want to have Doumit playing as much. I could be wrong. We have seen some things this spring that we hadn't seen much before, so who knows.
  5. The thing is, Willingham is going to be a bad outfielder defensively regardless of which corner spot he takes. Parmelee has played a ton of RF in his minor league career, but none in LF, so that is probably the bigger driver in the decision, in my opinion. Revere sounded resigned to going to Rochester, but I don't think that'll happen. I'm one who believes he should not play in RF because of the arm and the 1st to 3rd plays. Plouffe, Parmelee, Doumit can play RF... Revere can backup in LF and CF.
  6. As Brad Thompson is struggling, Eden Prairie, UM and Twins minor leaguer Cole DeVries is warming up.
  7. Twins/Cardinals on the computer... Cubs/Cleveland on WGN!!
  8. Beresford grounds out to first base.
  9. Aaron Hicks struck out on five pitches.
  10. Rain Delay #2 is done, they're playing again with Brendan Wise on the mound.
  11. Jim Souhan just tweeted: We had Twins asst gm Rob Antony on Sundaysportstalk. He said he forgot to mention Jeff Gray as prime bullpen candidate. Gray in contention.

  13. Probably platooning with Parmelee, pinch hitting, playing RF with Parmelee playing a bit at 1B.
  14. I haven't read anything about that. Hope not. But I do think Revere would get plenty of time in the OF.
  15. Updated Again (always subject to change): Parmelee Hendriks Dozier Benson
  16. The hard part for me is that all this likely means significantly less time for Ryan Doumit, and that would be too bad. He's a proven veteran with a track record of hitting.
  17. I'd expect an infield of Dozier at SS and Hughes at 2B... although Carroll will get plenty of string, and he should.
  18. Benson now in LF with Aaron Hicks playing CF. Beresford is at 2B now.
  19. Dozier with a perfect bunt single down the 3B line.
  20. I have no idea how or why Benson will be promoted. I just think that at some point he will be. Could be an injury, or hopefully it's just that he's playing so well that he forces his way into the big league lineup. Very possible especially now that the RF job is up for grabs.
  21. Burroughs with a diving catch at 1B.
  22. I don't think the move of Willingham to LF has much to do with his defense. I think it's about getting the most offense out there. Parmelee earned his job of playing most days and he has only played RF. Gardy also likes Plouffe in RF. I also agree that Benson will be the CF at some point this season.
  23. In the offseason GM Handbook, I worte that I thought the Twins should give Luke Hughes that 2B job with Alexi Casilla as the utility guy. I still like that plan.
  24. Luke Hughes with a 1st inning HR, his fourth of the spring, to give the Twins a 1-0 lead. Fair to say he's seeing the ball pretty well right now!
