  1. soreness in the back of his right knee... he noticed it during batting practice yesterday. Didn't sound terribly serious but might as well get it checked out right away.
  2. Yeah, that would be great... although certainly not mandatory (see Parmelee)... the issue will be that if the Twins don't keep 3 catchers, Rochester will have Butera, Towles and Rivera. Herrmann would split time up there. He'll play almost daily in New Britain, which is important.
  3. He had an OPS of .802 in AA last year, I think a .750 OPS would be a good rookie year for him. Not sure it's realistic.
  4. I just took the blame for Gray's 2-run homer allowed in another thread. One I put him on my projected roster, he had a rough outing. Fien probably deserves it, based on his spring, but let's not forget that Alex Burnett is still in the equation, and on the 40 man roster.
  5. The curse of "Seth's Projected Roster." Last week, I moved Manship into the mix with Waldrop for the final spots in the bullpen. Manship got hit hard that afternoon... Waldrop came down with an elbow problem... This week, I put Jeff Gray on the list for the first time, and he's getting hit pretty hard... Might mean Alex Burnett afterall... or Casey Fien?
  6. Jose Bautista breaks up the no-hitter with 2 outs in the 4th with a single... ALso note that Aaron Hicks is playing CF with Ben Revere in RF.
  7. The Giants have put Mike Fontenot on waivers... another utility type that I wouldn't be interested in, but it might make some sense in a backup role.
  8. Yes, but with just three OF on the roster, he'll get plenty of time out there too, I'm sure.
  9. Liam Hendriks with three no-hit innings against the Blue Jays #1 lineup... Let's see how the 2nd time through goes!
  10. Congratulations! This blog has been promoted to an article. http://www.twinsdaily.com/content.php?377-Tempered-Expectations-for-Parmelee
  11. #1... Dozier time!
  12. Isn't the fact that the article in on "Ten Bold Moves" enough to just know that he's just throwing stuff at the wall and seeing if anything sticks? Doesn't that all tie in together?
  13. I would trade Justin Morneau for Koji Uehara! Save $24 million and get a reliever who has dominated like few others in baseball the last two years. Granted, I'd prefer to get a couple of prospects instead, but Uehara is a stud.
  14. Possibly, and they have so many givens in Rochester that it just makes sense to leave him where he first started experiencing success just a couple of months at the end of last season.
  15. Kepler is so raw as a prospect. All the talent, but it's not like he dominated offensively at E-Town. like I said, my guess is he and Goodrum would or could be promoted to Beloit if others get promoted to Ft. Myers or injured. It also wouldn't hurt for him to get to play in E-town again this year.
  16. Wow!! I had Parmelee ranked as the #4 hitter at New Britain last year (behind Dozier, Benson and Solarte).
  17. I think Parmelee was on the big league roster, and getting this guy adds depth. LaVelle is saying he could start at AA or AAA (or technically Extended), but it makes most sense for him to get some time in Rochester with Aaron Bates. I definitely don't think this move was made with any intention of Rizzotti getting to the big leagues. It's about depth.
  18. That's the roster I have for New Britain, but was told that it is subject to change. I was surprised (somewhat) yesterday to hear that Bromberg will be pitching out of the bullpen, at least to start the season. So, I would guess the starting 5 would be: Darnell, French, Hirschfeld, Lanigan and Wimmers?
  19. According to Joe Christensen, Corey Williams, Bobby Lanigan, Anthony Slama and Mark Dolenc are also in Dunedin. He said (among others), so I'm excited to see what other minor leaguers may be there.
  20. The Twins are sending a split-squad team up to Dunedin to play the Blue Jays: Ben Revere CF Jamey Carroll SS Danny Valencia 3B Chris Parmelee 1B Brian Dinkelman LF JR Towls C Jairo Perez DH Aaron Hicks RF Ray Chang 2B SP: Liam Hendriks Toronto Yunel Escobar SS Kelly Johnson 2B Jose Bautista RF Edwin Encarnacion 1B Brett Lawrie 3B Colby Rasmus CF JP Arencibia C Rajai Davis LF Jeff Mathis DH SP: Aaron Laffey
  21. Pretty sure I'm not the only one who was saying that he was the favorite for that final spot within the last week, up until his elbow issue. Here's a story that was just published by Phil Mackey, with lots of quotes: http://www.1500espn.com/sportswire/Elbow_discomfort_ends_Kyle_Waldrops_bid_to_break_camp_with_Twins033012
  22. Roger, I have all of the minor league rosters as they sit today... I haven't posted them yet because they are subject to change for a couple more days. But you're right, there are several surprises on that roster... but for me, there are biggers surprises at the lower levels, and a TON of players staying for extended spring training.
  23. You can view the page at http://www.twinsdaily.com/content.php?376-Twins-Acquire-1B-Matt-Rizzotti-from-Phillies
  24. According to Todd Zolecki of the Phillies mlb.com site (via twitter), The Twins acquired 1B Matt Rizzotti this morning from the Philadelphia Phillies in exchange for "cash considerations." The 6-5, 255 pounder was the Twins 46th round pick in 2004 out of high school. He was then the Phillies 6th round pick in 2007. Last year at AA Reading, he hit .295/.392/.511 with 34 doubles, 24 homers and 84 RBI. He walks a bunch, and he strikes out a bunch. The left-handed hitting 1B will likely play in Rochester, along with Aaron Bates at 1B. [PRBREAK][/PRBREAK] More to come.
