  1. This just proves my point. It is all hypocrisy. Why do we let most cheaters in, but not Pete Rose and Shoeless Joe. If it is only about performance then those two guys need to be in. The people who are in are already in, and theres nothing that we can do about that, but if I got a vote, I wouldn't add to the hypocrisy. Let them all in, or no more. Also, the HOF is an extra honor, not a right. I'm fine admitting that Bonds and others are great players, but that doesn't mean we need to go out of our way to celebrate them as we would be doing if they were elected.
  2. I've never thought too highly of Peralta. They would probably try to flip him for a prospect or two.
  3. I would write in Pete Rose. That's it. If Rose was in then I could look over the use of steroids. But if I'm expected to overlook breaking rules/integrity flaws, then I refuse until we overlook it for the all-time hits leader also. As for Morris and Trammell and the other older guys, I think that they are close, but not quite worthy.
  4. mlbtraderumors.com: "The Tigers and Cubs are discussing a potential three-way trade that would send Rick Porcello to Chicago with the Orioles as the third party, according to Roch Kubatko of MASNsports.com. The Tigers want Baltimore involved because they want shortstop J.J. Hardy and they don't feel that the Cubs have the necessary components to make it a two-team trade." Tigers, Cubs, Orioles Discussed Three-Way Deal: MLB Rumors - MLBTradeRumors.com From a Twins Perspective this is scary. Not that the Twins will contend next year anyway, but Hardy is signed through 2014. And I would rather not see any of the A.L. Central teams be really good. And this would make a Really good Tigers team even better. I doubt it will happen though unless the Tigers give up much more.
  5. I'm just afraid that not even 5 of these guys will be serviceable, let alone 6. Maybe try it out for the first couple of weeks to weed out the worst guy.
  6. I think that Garza and Jeff Samardzija are both standouts. and Jackson and a healthy Baker are both probably better than the Twins currently have.
  7. TR probably offered more money himself and Correia showed mercy and left some of it. .
  8. I was looking at the pitching acquisitions that the Cubs have made, and when you look at the potential WAR that the new guys will bring, and the negative WAR that they will be ditching with their old crummy guys, they might be in line for 80 wins. I explain it all in depth in a blog post here: Cubs Could Contend in 2013 Based on WAR and Optimism « Kyle's Sports Thoughts What do you guys think? One big "if" is how our boy Scott Baker bounces back from TJ. And even if the Cubs arent competitive, they at least are improving more on last year's terribleness than the Twins. Minus the Edwin Jackson signing, I wish the Twins would have signed the same pitchers the Cubs did. Baker, Feldman and Villanueva are better than Pelfrey, Harden and Corriea for not a whole lot more money.
