  1. Either the Tigers have a bunch of flame throwers on the White Caps or the Radar Gun is calibrated slightly high. All the White Cap pitchers are throwing in the 95-98 mph range.
  2. Wild Pitch-Ortiz to 3rd. Rhodes flys to center
  3. Ortiz- clears the bases on a double-Sano scores all the way from 1st. 8-0 Snappers.
  4. Rosario pops to SS on first pitch.
  5. Sano walks-doesn't sound like he got much to hit. Rosario next.
  6. Lin walks and Bryant doubles off the glove of the White Cap outfielder and it rolls to the wall. Williams and Peterson scores and Lin to 3rd. Here comes Sano-New pitcher. Snappers up 5-0.
  7. Announcer-Snappers "poised to have ducks on the pond as their mashers come up." Gotta love A ball.
  8. Williams and Peterson with 1 out singles. Second hit for the former Gopher today.
  9. Shibuya- 5 2/3 8 hits 0 runs 1 walk 5 K's leaves with bases loaded.
  10. Achter goes full count and gets the K.
  11. Bases loaded-2 out. Shibuya is coming out and in comes AJ Achter.
  12. Shibuya is battling his "heart out". In other words he is walking a thin line.
  13. White caps announcers call the Snappers not a good defensive club after a Rhodes error puts a one out runner on 1st.
  14. Snappers 3-0 in the 5th
  15. Koch walks-takes 3rd on a two base error during a pick off-AJ singles on a 95+ fastball driving in Koch and then steals second-Lin walks- Grimes flys out and AJ moves to 3rd-Sano up 2 out-Lin takes 2nd uncontested- and Sano strikes out looking at a fastball
  16. Rhodes K's on fastball from Tigers 11th rated prospect who is in to pitch.
  17. Lin doubles to start the 3rd, Grimes flys out and Sano strikes out on a change. Then Rosario singles driving in Lin, taking second. On the next pitch Ortiz singles bringing in Rosario and taking second on the throw home. Pitching change and Snappers have a 2-0 lead.
  18. Al Kaline's grand kid is playing 3rd for the White Caps.
  19. Snappers hitless going to the 3rd. Shibuya on the mound. Has had some runners on and a hard hit out into right. Got a strike out throw out DP in the first too.

  22. When the idea of adopt a Prospect came up my first choice was Jason Wheeler for several reasons. First he is a impressive young man to talk to, second my wife thought he was a nice boy, third he met Harmon Killebrew and my son is named for Harmon, and fourth he is a member of the Snappers. So a bit about the 6 foot 8 inch, 265 pound left handed throwing young man from Torrance, California. Jason comes from a family of athletes, mom and dad both played college basketball and his older brother Ryan plays in the Diamondbacks organization and is currently in AAA with the Reno Aces. So Jason has the pedigree. Jason played college ball at Loyola Marymount University, as did his Snapper team mate Matt Koch, and some Twins fans may have seen him play for the St. Cloud River Bats of the Northwoods League where he was named 2010 Pitcher of the Year with a 8 and 1 record, 1.35 ERA and 74 strike outs. He was 6-4 with a 3.84 ERA his last year with the Lions before the Twins drafted him in the 8th round in 2011. (That may make him a qualify him as one of us. I have to check the rules.) Jason was a Junior at LMU when he left for the Twins but will graduate this fall with a degree in business law. If the whole pitching in the Majors and making a lot of cash thing doesn't work out he might end up a sports agent, we will try not to hold that against him on this blog. With three games started under his belt at Beloit this year Jason is 1-0 with a 2.40 ERA, 1.27 WHIP, 10 K's and 5 walks in 15 innings. The nom de plume I threw out has nothing to do with his velocity or style of pitching, I just have a soft spot in my heart for baseball of the 1920's-1930's when such names where common place. Depending on the wacky southern Wisconsin weather Jason should take the mound in the next couple of days against Bowling Green. I have yet to see him pitch but it looks like he charts a good game, once he has some gloves to keep those California fingers warm. Good look Jason, we will be keeping a eye on you.

  24. I was shocked that ESPN understands that the Yankees play regular season games against someone besides the Red Sox. I will say that the Yankees are kind of looking a bit old out there. Not as scary as they did a few years ago. As far the Jeter coverage, come on. Do you expect something different. If both the Yankees and the Red Sox should collapse things in Bristol might implode until Football season starts, imagine if they had to find Kansas City and send someone to cover a KC-Blue Jays game sometime. The horror. But it is the price we pay for having a entity like ESPN with it's coverage, production values and in many cases strong programming. They need to feed the monster and the storyline the know that sells to the masses is Red Sox and Yankees. But it does give us something in return, a deeply held belief that the world is against our plucky little team from the northern plains.
  25. Slowey took the loss in AAA last night. Maybe the Twins actually got what he was worth in the trade?
