I know that Liriano is throwing the pitches, but I keep thinking that Drew is an equal partner in getting him out of trouble. That DP sure came at a great time.

Good news from the farm - Walters pitched 5 scoreless innings for Rochester. Looks like he's ready to return.

Thanks for that good news. Hopefully the "Wall" can pick up where he left off.

Who still wants to trade Liriano?

I do. I just saw the last two innings, but from what I saw he was struggling with his control again. He got out of it, but it just makes me so nervous. I truly want to believe he's turned the corner and "bad Frankie" is gone for good, but it's just requiring too much of a leap of faith at this point. This is one time, however, when I would be glad to be proved wrong.

Now that Liriano is done for the day, why not let Doumit bat for Butera?

I've never been a trade Liriano guy. First I don't think we would get much value in a trade, especially with how erratic he has been. Secondly, I keep hoping that we find the secret to his success. Maybe we found it in his own personal catcher. I wouldn't bet the farm on it, but we can always dream. With Diamond, we may have to only find 3 starters for 2013.

I feel the same way as you do, EXCEPT I see Liriano as the best gamble available for the Twins having an "ace" anytime soon. If the Twins were ever to make it to the postseason, an ace could help take them past the first round.

By my calculation, the Twins have now lowered the ERA of their starters to 5.77 - nice to see that dropping on a pretty steady basis.

I wonder where they rank in the AL on this stat.

Still last and then still some.

I am hoping that Deduno will be a part of fixing that.

Kansas City was next to last and had a starters ERA of 5.00 going into today.

Thanks. It sounds like it may take a while to close that gap.

Whats better is that Our starters are more frequently getting through 6 innings. But i guess that goes hand in hand if.

Yes, but that's because of the abysmal start. My guess is, throw out that first month and a half, and the rotation is inline with some of the other teams.

Unless you throw out those other teams' worst month and a half too.

Even then I'm guessing the gap would be less than it is now - that's how bad that start was.:)

Take out the respective worst 6-week stretches and there's still a gap? So then, worst stretch against worst stretch, or remainder against remainder, and they still lag, either portion.

Not good, in other words.
