Emmanuel Rodriguez is once again out for a significant amount of time due to injury. The Twins' top prospect had a UCL tear in his left thumb after a headfirst slide into first base on May 1, and only after the inflammation went down was the UCL tear revealed. With an estimated timeline of recovery around three months, will he make his MLB debut before the 2026 season is over?

Injury riddled career in MiLB through ‘25.

Comes into ‘26 having a real clean shot for the SHOW. Matt Wallner does everything in his power, save injury, to clear a path for Emma.

Rodriguez……..inexplicably, slides head first into FIRST base and tears up his thumb & essentially ends his season as he won’t be able to have a shot at starting over at AAA until September 1.

I realize Emma is dejected & the situation is unfortunate. From a “fan’s perspective” it makes one question Emma’s intelligence. He’s been hurt significant amounts of time every year for 4 years. Tough to be a fan of a guy that’s typically not available.

Hopefully, this will push the organization into being very clear that NOBODY is to slide into first base going forward. Unnecessary!
