  1. I think you are reading morosi's tweet the wrong way Dave, lol. Morosi mentions that Twins asked for Alvarez but were obviously rejected. Wanting and agreeing to are two different things. You adamantly said the Dodgers agreed to Alvarez as part of the deal, which obviously did not happen. Also, before you take your victory lap you also had this deal done during the winter meetings, which was obviously wrong too.
  2. I already stated the reason he wasn't a lock to make it in the Dodger's rotation, and it wasn't because he wasn't legit. The Dodgers pitching depth is just really impressive right now. The Dodger were simply trading from their surplus. As far as legit goes, we will see what kind of pitcher he will turn out since no one really knows if he's legit.
  3. I don't agree that the Dodgers didn't love JDL's future. The Dodger must have thought JDL was good enough to net a player like Dozier.
  4. You kind of made it seemed like if JDL's ceiling is that of a #2 he should be a lock in the Dodger rotation. I simply was stating that the Dodger rotation is just staked with more proven pitchers. Also, the Dodgers aren't just going to DFA two possible solid pitchers in McCarthy and Kazmir. If last year is any indication of what happens to pitchers in a long season, these two are going to have to pitch plenty even though they aren't guaranteed a spot in the rotation.
  5. Pitchers don't have to be #2 in the rotation to pitch like a #2. Just look at Kendrick with the Cubs. The guy was their #5 starters and ended up pitching like an ace. JDL wasn't a lock in the rotation because of many circumstances. One, Kershaw, Hill, Maeda, Wood, and Urias are currently more proven pitchers. Two, pitchers like McCarthy and Kazmir are veterans with big contacts, so must stay on their roster. The Dodgers just didn't have the room to give JDL the innings that he deserved, so he was used to acquire to fill a need. He wasn't traded because he was no good.
  6. Also this from Buster Olney; Since Andrew Friedman took over the Los Angeles Dodgers' baseball operations, he has fended off repeated trade requests for Corey Seager, Julio Urias, Cody Bellinger and Yadier Alvarez. L.A. probably could've landed Cole Hamels, Chris Sale or other established stars, but the Dodgers have kept the best of their prospects. And they enjoyed the first extraordinary benefit of that approach last season. Just sharing. I think the Twins did the right things in rejecting the 1 for 1 offer.
  7. If Buehler holds up physically, he will be another top prospect is an already deep farm system.
  8. Dozier is definitely better, but at what cost? The Dodgers just got a major upgrade at 2nd from what they had.
  9. And this is why Alvarez was never offered.
  10. The Dodgers actually performed fairly well against Bum during the regular season.
  11. But why should we believe the meteorologist that is predicting snow when more seasoned meteorologist are predicting rain? Sorry Dave but you have been way off in your "reporting".
  12. I read it twice, and it still doesn't change the fact that you said that the Dodgers have just "2 solid starters": Kershaw and Urias. I was just stating that Hill was more than a solid starter. As for your second statement, you mentioned that "beyond them", I infer you still mean Kershaw and Urias, that the Dodgers are filled with injury prone pitchers. My rebuttal was simply, then why would the Dodgers trade two pitchers with the possibility of pitchers getting injured?
  13. Do your research on Hill. Despite not logging in a lot of innings, he has been one of the most dominant pitchers when he has pitched. You also contradicted yourself. If the Dodgers have a lot of injury prone and "washed up" pitchers, then why would they trade two of their young pitchers that could step in when?
  14. You mean the same criticism they faced when they didn't sign Greinke last year? The same year where they were just 2 wins away from the WS? One player doesn't ruin your season. Even when the best pitcher in the league went down, Kershaw, the Dodger managed to take first place in their division.
  15. Actually he did, Beradino's sources informed him that Alvarez was never offered. He is referencing his source in his report. "The Dodgers, according to sources familiar with the talks, were willing to part with right-hander Jose De Leon, their top-rated pitching prospect, but steadfastly refused to include a second high-end pitching prospect such as Yadier Alvarez, Walker Buehler or even Brock Stewart."
  16. Good news for the Dodgers, lol
  17. To be fair your source also said it was going to get done in 24 hours a month ago, EOW on Monday, and now 48 hours after the EOW.
  18. By more, how much more; one C level prospect hitter/pitcher, or B level prospect?
  19. That's why I said "recently". Also, in the years you mentioned we were being run by penny pincher McCourt, yes the same guy MLB basically ran out. Seager, Bellinger, JDL, Verdugo, Stewart, Stewart, Buehler, Calhoun, Stripling, and Sheffield have all been drafted, money had nothing to do them being selected. Good thing for the Dodgers many recent top prospect list have evaluated and ranked JDL as an elite prospect. Maybe that's the reason he is the centerpiece is the reported proposal for Dozier.
  20. I hope this post didn't sound like I was being general. I was implying to AZTwin's posts. Also, I was simply replying to AZTwin's post about the Dodgers somehow hindering their pitching prospect's development by holding them back from their innings and their promotion to the bigs. I have stated before if I was dealing with the Twins I would offer JDL, Stewart (I would actually prefer Sheffield, but I'm trying to be fair), and a C level prospect. No more, no less, if it didn't work for the Twins then simple move on.
  21. I really don't get all of your assumptions about Dodger prospects, development, and worth/value of said prospects. I don't know if your just misinformed or just plain trolling. There's no one way to develop prospects since they all come with different backgrounds and have different needs. To compare the development of Kershaw to any other prospects its just not knowledgable. I think we all understand the risks involved with prospects, especially pitching, but these prospects still carry a lot of value. To keep on bashing the Dodger's player development is pretty funny since they have continuously created a solid top of the league system. The Dodgers system has the depth that will continue to graduate prospects for years to come. To bash the way the Dodgers develop their pitchers when they have recently developed many young pitchers is again not smart. I'm not one to bash other franchises that I don't know much about, but from I have read the Twins haven't been too successful at developing blue chip can't miss prospects that just haven't developed in the majors. For you to say that the Dodgers are doing it wrong while the franchise that you cheer for has not gotten things right recently is just pretty hilarious.
  22. Again you misconstrued a post. Come on man! I even bolded it for you. Steward and JDL have more value to the Dodgers winning games than Dozier. I would still would trade both those guys for Dozier since I believe we do have more young pitchers coming up the ranks.
  23. Here's how Eno Sarris from Fangraphs sees Stewart: Brock Stewart recently improved his fastball velocity, sits above 93 now with an elite spin rate, and has this plus-plus slider. His changeup has a 13 mph velocity gap. Can’t wait for people to know more about Brock Stewart. And this is what Keith Law of ESPN had to say about one of the proposed trade of JDL and Stewart for Dozier: Mike: Seems like the holdup on the Twins trading Dozier to the Dodgers is the isistance on getting 2 MLB-ready prospects from the Dodgers. Are the Dodgers being unreasonable by trying to hold on to both DeLeon and Stewart? Klaw: I don’t think that’s an unfair ask for the Twins, but that would severely cut into the Dodgers’ starting pitching depth, and I think the result would reduce the Dodgers’ potential gains from adding Dozier.
  24. I think you need to look at little closer. JDL had some of the best k/bb ratio. Also, I thought command, control, lack of secondary pitches, or inability to hold velocity for multiple innings was the result of moving a pitcher to the BP, not shoulder soreness. The Dodgers are also very conservative and cautious of pitchers' injuries, even the most acute of injuries. JDL came back from his shoulder soreness throwing just has hard.
  25. Many of the Dodger players are young and are gaining experience. Even Dozier took years to hit his stride. Last year is already gone. Much the same as Dozier can regress, many of the young Dodger players can progress. Its just part of the game.
