  1. I know he's currently hurt, but I'll take Carlos Gutierrez.
  2. Awesome, thank you very much to Twins Daily and Pearson's!
  3. I agree with whydidnt. A rule is a rule no matter the situation of the game. I know a lot of players in basketball and hockey will play the game based on how the refs are calling it earlier in the game. If the refs change what they are calling near the end of the game it can throw everything out of whack. Would you want an umpire to tighten/loosen the strike zone in the later innings based on how the game is going? I know I'm always annoyed when I see that the strike zone has changed within one game, I'd rather it be consistent from first to last pitch.
  4. Sounds like Casilla is a scratch with tightness in the back of his right knee, Daniel Santana will start in his place. This will be a great opportunity for him. I'm looking forward to seeing how Morales and Santana do today.
  5. I know Armando Galarraga started the game (and gave up 2 of 3 Plouffe HRs), but I'm not sure who came in relief.
  6. Sounds like Gardy just said this morning that Dozier likely starts in AAA, but they won't hesitate to bring him up if Casilla or Carroll get injured. This seems consistent with what most people thought. It looks like this additional time in ML camp is just to get him the experience (probably similar to Benson & Parmelee).
  7. I think sending Nishioka to NB is a more likely option than sending Dozier there. That being said, I think Nishi plays 2B with Dozier at SS if Dozier doesn't make the major league roster for opening day.
  8. Nice bases clearing double by Benson. That's a good sign for him.
  9. The Dozier vs. Hollimon decision will be interesting. It obviously doesn't make sense for Dozier to make the club if he won't be a starter, but Hollimon could easily fill in the utilitly infielder role. Also, one of the Twins' beat writers mentioned this morning that it is possible the Twins would go sign a backup middle infielder.
  10. Definitely a good deal for both the Twins and Perk. Glad to see he'll be staying a Twin until at least 2016. The contract does have incentives if he does end up being the closer (not released yet), so it's tough to know if it'll for sure be a "bargain" if he moves to the closer role within the next 4 years.
  11. John, the game isn't on mlb.tv so I'm not sure if you'll be able to find it anywhere. I really like what I'm seeing from Span so far this spring. He's hitting over .500 and even has 2 SB's today.
  12. I like what I've seen from Maloney thus far (granted it's early), so it would be nice to see him step up. That being said, what about Duensing? I know one of our starters are bound to get hurt and then Duensing will be in the rotation, but it's possible he steps up like Perk did last year.
  13. Huge game for both Williams and Beasley. I don't doubt that the Wolves will sneak into the playoffs, but that'll be where it ends. The NBA isn't like the NHL where an #8 seed beats a #1 every year. That being said, a little playoff experience won't hurt. They should be able to hover around that .500 mark the rest of the year and continue to be a fun team to watch.
  14. The Morneau situation definitely doesn't look good, but he has fully performed in every workout so far this spring which is a good sign. I think he'll be alright until another knock to the head and then I imagine he'll retire. Let's just hope that's not for a few more years.
