  1. No kidding. Victorino has always been a right-handed hitter who was switch hitting. It can't be THAT difficult to change to just hitting from the right side. Jason Varitek reacted to suggestions that he give up switch hitting like someone asked him to hit cross handed. I think, especially for hitters whose strong side is right-handed, that they are more afraid of getting pegged as a platoon player, and their perceived value would go down as a result. I remember thinking the same thing for Bobby Kielty.
  2. Was the 14 a pre-season ranking? Maybe he'd be top 10 for the Dodgers now. In any regard, it baffles me that the Dodgers would trade any sort of top 20 prospect for the right to defensively substitute Drew Butera for a month.
  3. Nothing on Buxton? I don't care if he sat with a hang nail. I NEEDS MY BUXTON NEWS! Doing a Twins minor league report without anything on Buxton is like publishing an early 2000's teen magazine without mentioning Justin Timberlake.
  4. still not buying as anything more than a 4th or 5th starter. His BABIP with men on base is .226, and with men in scoring position, it's .206. The ground ball % is encouraging, but ground ball pitchers actually tend to have higher BABIPs, since ground balls end up as hits more than fly balls. Another BABIP red flag. He's 136th out of 137 pitchers (70 innings min) for infield fly balls, which is a pretty key component of predicting future BABIP.
