  1. I see that a few people think Brian Dozier received the short end of the stick this season with his opportunity. The reality is that he did not play very well. I can assure everyone that we have not seen the last of Dozier. I envision him getting a fair shake next season. My guess is that he is the opening day second baseman. Shortstop is another question all together. As this organization stands now there is no long term answer on our 40 man roster or in the organization. If the Twins want a better than stop gap shortstop, they will either have to acquire a shortstop from another organization or wait a number of years until they can develop one. The Twins had a somewhat affordable slick fielding shortstop two seasons ago who could also swing the stick a bit. They exchanged him for less than nothing and made some very erroneous decisions regarding the shortstop position in the 2010 off season. The Twins organization made this bed. Unfortunately, we all have to sleep in it. On the sunny side of things (not really), we are not the first organization to screw things up and won't be the last. 2011, 2012 and probably beyond is our turn to fester in the MLB landfill.
  2. Interesting. Probably won't come across a play like that for a while. I never have up to this point in my career of watching/following baseball. A very smart play by the Tigers even though it did not work out.
  3. If Gardy was a Great manager (of which I don't think exists), he would have lifted our mediocre AAA staff above and beyond their abilities (just kidding). 11 seasons as a manager is a great run, It is time to make a change. New ideas, new energy and a level of uncertainty and fear for the players is the answer. This kitchen needs a new head chef. In terms of reward - yesterday is obsolete, the present and future is controllable - this is all that matters for the Twins.
  4. From what I have read on this thread there is way too much passion about Gardenhire on both sides of this worthless coin. Managers are mostly overrated in modern times.. If this was 10 years ago, I could see the argument for keeping Gardenhire - that was a long time ago and those old time memories don't adhere to 9.16.12. Two 90+ losing seasons from a club that has toed the line and had a few better than okay seasons in 10 years is not enough to spare Mr. Gardenhire's job. Give him a nice severance payment and get him and his staff out of this organization. New blood is needed. And for those who think Joe Maddon or Mike Scioscia are gods of managing, they are overrated too. The Twins need to hire a cheap, semi-young upstart manager.
