    Watched several games at Cedar Rapids. Completely unimpressed with Javier. He's still very raw and undisciplined. He looks like he's several years away from the majors, if he'll ever get there. Was much more impressed with Rijo. His pitches have life and he has some idea on how to use them. I think he could evolve into a nice bullpen arm at the big league level.

    Was at the game. Lake County had a legitimate beef at the end of the game. It appeared the Kernels baserunner never reached the plate. Several of the Kernels had excellent offensive games, particularly Christensen and Kanzler. Several looked overmatches, particularly Murphy and Vielma.

    While that would be good supplemental information, what Gardenhire was referring to when he was saying Mauer is not getting behind the ball is that it is costing him some zip. It could be that he's getting a quick release in both cases however in his current form he's slightly slower at getting to ball to second overall. Has anyone tracked Mauer's passed balls and wild pitches this season? It seems like more catchable balls have gotten past him this season than ever before. I seem to remember several going between his legs without him getting his glove down to block the ball.
