  1. Absolutely agree!! The cat was a darn good pitcher for Arizona. If he can even regain 80% of that form, he would probably be our #2 or #3 starter. The cost should be pretty minimal. Definitely worth a flier. For that matter, I would not mind taking a run at Rich Harden either. If he got that muscle capsule issue taken care of, that is another guy worth seeing if he has anything left. Heck, it worked for the Braves and Ben Sheets last year!!!
  2. John Lannan signs with the Phils for $2.5 million with another $2.5 million in incentives. Lannan is a much better pitcher than Correia. Is it close???? John Lannan to Philadelphia Phillies as potential starter, source says - ESPN We as fans cannot allow management to continue to scream poverty when it comes to signing big ticket FAs when they are signing glorified 5th starters like Correia to multi-year deals for insane money. Even if we were short on cash (which we are not), terrible contracts like Correia's, especially with a guy like Lannan out there, only make the situation worse.
  3. I do not understand why we, as Twins fans, allow the organization to get away with representing poverty when it is anything but! More on that here: Explaining the Twins? Fabricated Fiscal Cliff | Border Rivals. But, the long and short of it is that in the last three years, the Twins have had an operating income (read profit) of $70 million. In the last six years, that number doubles to $140 million. So, instead of signing some of the higher priced free agents (Haren, Sanchez, Marcum, etc.), we get stuck with Kevin "Freakin'" Correia!?!? As was recently pointed out in a great post on this site about how sad that signing was, the guy is barely a 5th starter. I refuse to believe that if the Twins made a Godfather-offer to one of the semi-studs out there that we could not lock it down. Instead, the Twin's ring the poverty bell like they are a Salvation Army volunteer at Christmas. Very frustrating. Is there anyway to fix this problem? Do we all need to have a bonfire on the Nicollet Mall and burn our "small market" badges?
  4. Absolutely nailed it. Lack of even a decent No. 3 is killing this team. We have a starting staff of Nos. 4 and 5. Plus, what is worse, there is almost no hope on the horizon. No Trevor Bauer, Matt Moore, Tyler Skaggs, Shelby Miller, nothing. And that is sad. Plus, what is worse, Dave St. Peter is telling the fan base to #KeepTheFaith: http://wp.me/p29VCs-8h. You have got to be kidding me. Give us just a little reason to believe the faith should be kept!!
  5. Great reports on the Twinks. And, it was nice to finally see the Twins squeak one out, but, just the day before, Dave St. Peter is telling the fan base to #KeepTheFaith: http://wp.me/p29VCs-8h. You have got to be kidding me. Give us just a little reason to believe the faith should be kept!! Sano looks great, but, it seems like he is a couple years away.
  6. We blogged about this extensively at BorderRivals (see here: http://wp.me/p29VCs-7x) but, how sad has it been to watch Frankie K these last few years?? Sure, he gave us a bit of hope in 2010 when he looked to be fully recovered from his date with Tommy John, but, it has really been all downhill from there. Not only was 2011 a bust (even the no-hitter was a bit of production - 6 walks), but, 2012 seems to be starting off on the all-together wrong feet. It would be really nice to see him bounce back and grab the tag of ACE that has long been waiting for him. At this point though, it might not ever happen.
