Article: Twins Offense Looking To Its Heart

Is Willingham drawing more walks because he is failing to put the ball in play? Is he missing balls he used to put in play only to get a few more walks later in counts?

Wilingham's team worth and trade value is falling. I like him but thought they should have moved him at the deadline last year when his stock was at it's peak and without realizing they'd be decent this year. Thought the same about Morneau but would love to see him re-signed to a team friendly deal especially w/ Parmelee's struggles in the Bigs. Morneau will start hitting dingers soon enough I think.

I am not sure Willingham ever had great trade value. He is a huge deficit in left field. He is at an age and has a contract where decline in skills both offensive and defensive can be expected.

He had 7 years of an OPS+ between 115-129. Last year it spiked at 143. It seems reasonable that he would settle back in his career range this year with the reality that a drop from that range will come sometime in the next few years. While still an offensive plus, he gives back some on defense. No one knows how much. I am guessing that more than a few teams would not being willing to gamble a good prospect that his bat will continue to offset his inept defense.

I hate to be the mess around with the batting order guy but put mauer and morneau back to back.

'Justin Morneau pulled into a tie for sixth place in the American League with four RBI on Monday night, but his high ranking has more to do with opportunity than effectiveness'

it also has to do with the fact he's batting .318 with RISP and .309 with men on base. Pretty effective.

The Twins are currently out-OPSing only the Astros and blacksox in the AL. I think it's safe to say that the "beast" is still asleep. That, or awake but not a beast at all; something fuzzy and harmless along the lines of a chinchilla or newborn kitten...
