What are the odds Minnesota brings in Johan next year on a "show me" type 1 year 2-3 mil base (4-5 mil incentives) type deal?

I think it would make sense, the twins likely would have a spot available for him and I imagine he still likes the org/fans and vice versa. Plus pitcher friendly park etc etc

I think the chances are somewhere around zero. Not only are there questions of how amicable the earlier parting was, the Twins generally do not do these kind of deals. Pelfrey was actually pretty remarkable in that they committed decent cash to a pitcher coming off injury, but his recovery rate was regarded as remarkable too. The Twins always want "guaranteed innings" from their starting pitchers and are willing to sacrifice upside to get them.

That said, I would endorse it, and I'd love to see it, even if it was primarily a farewell tour for a long-shot comeback.

I think the parting was amicable and professional as it could have been.

You think so? Do you remember him and Torii publicly thrashing Ryan for dealing Castillo in the middle of a playoff race. Saying if they are always building for the future there's no need for him to be there. I also remember him wanting to get an extension done prior to the start of 2007 and being disappointed that the Twins never approached him (same with Torii).

Well, there was the part where Johan keyed a giant cartoon penis on the hood of Bill Smith's car.

Eddie Guardado simply painted a giant cartoon penis on Terry Ryan's car with watercolors, so it easily washed off. Not only was he re-acquired a few years later, now he's in the Twins Hall of Fame!

It would be nice to see Johan try to come back as a relief pitcher for the Twins.

Even if he is unable to make it back to the majors, I would like to have him back in the Twins organization.

In Pelfrey's interview on 1500 he said he talked with a few ex Twin players before he signed here and mentioned Santana. According to Pelfrey - Santana told him that it is a great place to play and he would love the opportunity to go back.

I'd be cool with it. I think us fans would warm to Santana quickly, no harm - no foul. It's not Santana's fault the Twins did not offer him a contract to his liking... thank goodness!

If Santana makes his comeback as a Twin and is 15% of what he once was - he would probably be our best starting pitcher.
