Forrest Whitley is a 6'7", 225 lb. right handed pitcher from Alamo Heights High School in Texas. Whitley's repertoire consists of a fastball that reaches 97 miles per hour, a buckling curveball, an improved changeup, and an average slider. Forrest repeats his delivery well for someone of his size, and although there is some effort in it he should be able to hold up as a starter. If Whitley does have to make the move into the bullpen he could still become a power arm in the back of a big league pen, and then he would be able to subtract pitches from his arsenal. The vapor thrower from Texas is committed to Florida State University, but he has moved far enough up draft boards to make signability something that does not need to be worried about. Whitley has a similar pitching profile to the high school versions of Phil Hughes and Adam Wainwright, and scouts think he can develop into a top of the rotation pitcher. The Twins have been linked to Whitley this spring, and if they know he will sign at the fifteenth pick he could be their guy.
