MichiganTwins Verified Member Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 Just adopted Salcedo. Sorry about the late entrance. Since I am just starting, Salcedo's season stats currently are (after May 18's ballgame) 3 wins no losses, 4.26 ERA, 19 IP, 22 H, 9 R all earned, 2 HR, and 23 K's. Tonight Salcedo threw two scoreless innings to up his scoreless streak to 8 and 2/3 innings. Salcedo has a couple of bad outings being the season and another on April 28, but he seems to be adjusting well to the bullpen in his recent outings. He is consistently striking out 2 to 3 batters per outing so that seems to be a good sign. More to follow the rest of the season. Here's to hoping a once prize starting pitching prospect can turn it around in the bullpen.

MichiganTwins Verified Member Posted May 20, 2013 Author Posted May 20, 2013 Salcedo's low-90s fastball and overall raw stuff have always gotten positive reviews, but even before the injury the 6-foot-4 right-hander was trending in the wrong direction. Being a control artist in the majors is one thing, but most successful low-strikeout, low-walk starters actually managed decent strikeout rates in the minors. He's still young enough to bounce back from the lost year of development time, but Salcedo's status as a quality prospect is shaky. (Aaron Gleeman)
MichiganTwins Verified Member Posted May 23, 2013 Author Posted May 23, 2013 Not a very good outing last night for Salcedo. Gave up 3 runs, 2 earned over two innings. 4 hits, 1 walk, 1 strikeout. Raises year era to 4.71.
MichiganTwins Verified Member Posted May 30, 2013 Author Posted May 30, 2013 Another sub par outing for Salcedo. Gave up two runs on two hits in one inning of relief. He stuck out one batter, but walked two. Raising the ERA to 5.32.
MichiganTwins Verified Member Posted June 3, 2013 Author Posted June 3, 2013 He has not appeared in a game since his last bad outing on May 29. Nothing new to update.
Shane Wahl Verified Member Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 Well I have to wonder how his velocity is right now. He is striking out players at the highest rate of his career. Sure the hits/9 are bad still, but he is walking people at a rate reminiscient of his first few years. And he's only 22.
