Kernels Gameday Info needed

A group of college buds are heading down to Cedar Rapids for a weekend series and I'm hoping someone can help us get some answers.

Do they allow pre-game tailgating? If not, are there some good bars close by?

Do they offer a All You Can Eat and Drink area for smaller groups? I have looked on their website and all I can find is for groups of 15 or more.

Any must do things before the game or on Sunday? Never been to this part of Iowa, so any tips are appreciated.

Thanks in advance for any help.

My wife and I enjoy the NewBo district. The NewBo city market is a nice anchor for the area with several small shops across the street but there is also a warehouse next door that upon a deeper inspection turned out to be an artisan studio area with lots of artsy, industrial things to check out.

I'm not sure what your looking for in a "gathering" space but there is a lawn you can have a picnic on as well as some picnic tables you can gather at over looking the field.

PS I would recommend eating at the brick oven pizza place in the market.

I wish I could help, but I do the media thing when I go, so I don't really know.

There isn't a lot right around the ballpark, but there isn't a real big distance between it and anything else.

Follow Steve Buhr on Twitter and ask him for more... I go with him to Bushwood, though the Stadium Bar is right across the street and that's a nice little place too. I went to Genghis Grille, but there is a Buffalo Wild Wings and a new Chipotle and quite a few other placed. Cedar Landing is a nice place more downtown.

I just stay at the Rodeway Inn when I go there, but there are more spendy places downtown, I believe.

I like to make the trip to the Field of Dreams site often. It's about 45 minutes from Cedar Rapids, and you only need to be there 45 minutes to an hour, but it's worth it.

OTher than that, I'm not much help. Ha!

Thanks for the tops. We are staying at the Doubletree downtown and plan on walking to the stadium, as it sounds like tailgating is out. Will check out the places you guys suggested. Will be going to the games on the 23rd and 24th. Crossing my fingers that Kirilloff is promoted by then, but I doubt it
