    Great, about time.
Now MLB, just don't drop the ball when it comes to who's living with the players. Lots of these guys have families; wives and kids, I'm sure that will be fine. But there are a lot of cultures represented in MiLB and many of the Latin guys are used to living with extended family. Don't go to battle over this stuff.

I think it is just clumsily worded, and "home" and "hometown" in the article just mean "local" (as in local team). MLB.TV blackouts have never made any distinction between home and away games, and I doubt that would change.
The idea sounds like an in-market streaming service, separate from MLB.TV (which is an out-of-market service). Which makes sense, as they are two separate audiences, just as MLB.TV subscribers and pay-TV customers are today. In-market fans may not want to pay for out-of-market games, and out-of-market fans vice-versa.
Of course, it says it wouldn't happen until 2023 which makes me think a lot of negotiations are still involved -- they could just be trying to drive up the cost of the streaming rights for someone else to buy them (or buy into this service as a partner?).

Yeah, it's annoying and I've always hated how Zimmer's defenses, even when good, never feel dominant.  Nevertheless, they kicked that offense's ass for 3 and 3/4 quarters.  Short of a bunch of stupid special teams and turnover issues that game never would've been close.

    Probably.
But I long ago lost faith in billionaire owners doing right by other people out of the goodness of their hearts. So them doing right by other people for completely self-serving purposes was probably always going to be the best we get.

I wonder if this is a CBA pre-negotiation tactic too

I saw that in the MLB statement too. Hard to read too much into it yet -- I suspect that they may exclude 40-man roster guys in the minors, who already receive elevated pay and benefits.
Of course, we have no idea how this housing benefit will be structured. There could be two separate components: arrangement assistance, plus a separate stipend to pay for it. Maybe all players will be eligible for the arrangement assistance, but only non-40-man guys get the stipend, etc. I expect it will all vary by city too, as some clubs offer different housing benefits already.

Well, what I thought was a fair and helpful deal was the team signs leases instead of having their players sign leases to nearby apartments, then the team subleases to players. The optimal situation would be the team signs leases all the open rooms and buys out leases to a couple mid size apartments buildings to essentially turns those apartment buildings into dorms. I don't think it's a good idea to have MLB teams "own" the buildings. The apartment owners and management would still be in charge of operations, but it would ensure rooms were available and take away a big complaint many in these forums have made about how difficult they believe it is to find a place to rent.
It's worth noting this seems to be coming from the MLB team's revenues rather than MiLB revenues.

Yeah, except playing well until the last drive is becoming common place with this team.
And if you're running a conservative offense and won't run the score up on anyone, that's a pretty big problem.

What about the other teams in the playoffs?
How good were the Giants before this year with their strategy? They had career years up and down the lineup, kind of like MN in 2019.......
I think a lot is glossed over here.....Boston has a massive payroll, the idea they've not spent money "you don't need a big off season" is kind of odd in what you are implying.
Before anyone says "copy the Rays"....no team has been able to copy the Rays in years now. It just isn't that easy.

I’m not even sure their replacement plan was that bad, as they had some depth. The Kirilloff injury hurt the most. If he’s able to play more, I suspect we don’t miss Rosario at all.
But one thing I’ll never understand is why Cave, a lefty, continued to be their backup option for so long when they so obviously needed a righty in that role.

I've disliked them since long before then.
I really hated how back in the day ESPN made it seem like everyone had to pick a side in the Yankee/Red Sox rivalry. They made a lot of people think that if you didn't like the Yankees (duh, who would) naturally you had to cheer for the "underdog" Red Sox, who didn't have as high of a payroll.
It was higher than every single other team OTHER than the Yankees, but still.....
I always resented that manipulation; maybe because it seemed like most people I knew fell for it.

Good for Eddie. He was always entertaining, if not always fundamentally sound. His "ankles to forehead" strike zone led to some interesting ABs, both good and bad.

As for the Twins not signing Rosario, I think it's fair to say Falvine were correct to move on. I think it also fair to say their plan to replace him was a pretty miserable failure.
