I nominate Cody as the FO's official bargain shopper.
Seriously, these were well-researched and well-reasoned suggestions. If we're going to continue to be a team that relies on finding diamonds in the rough, we better at least be good at it.

Megill seems to have some pretty intriguing peripheral numbers. Good strikeout and walk rates and good velocity. Usually the tall guys either struggle with walks, or are surprisingly soft tossers. I don't really want him taking up a 40-man spot, but I guess he'll do for now.
And uh, based on the consensus feeling on this site, a bag of M&Ms taking up a roster spot was preferable to Jake Cave, so obviously that part's a win.

I don't think Buxton's contract is likely boom or bust exactly. I don't expect he'll ever be healthy, but he'll probably produce enough to make him valuable. The contract's incentive design will allow it to be moved as well so it shouldn't cripple the Twins.

Hunter's not even close in my book. He had a very long career, but was steady "good" rather than great. 5x All Star in 19 seasons just doesn't get it done. Hunter's very best season is the average season for the 7 year peak of an average hall of famer.

I agree. I also believe it is far more likely that Buxton will figure out how to stay healthy than trading Buxton will bring in someone of comparable talent.

Both Nishioka and Park got a good chance to succeed, and failed. But of course, many people from warmer climates might characterize Minnesota springs and falls as "cold days in hell."

The “strategy” of pinch hitting for pitchers is so over stated for NL fans. The decision most times is so obvious that it’s not really a strategy at all. Simply something that has to be done.

Not exactly.....they don't have to pay market rate for several years, so we can't conclude from non-free agent salaries what free agent salaries are worth. That said, there is some merit in your second paragraph.

Not taking away from Miranda's extraordinary year, but isn't it premature to anoint him "an emerging star"?  Without major league experience, it would be foolish to trade either Sano or Donaldson on a team that has been offensively challenged this year.  If we can trust Pohlad's assertion that 2022 is not going to be a rebuilding year(big ??? there), then expecting Miranda to step right in to the starting lineup on Day 1 would be foolish.  Let's ease him into the lineup rather than adding more pressure at the get-go; after all, this guy has had one great season after several of mediocrity.  If he continues his 2021 performance, they'll find a spot for him.  This lineup has lots of holes!!

Dick just said he doesn;t like the term Immaculate Inning, because it reminds him of the Vikings-Cowboys game where Drew Pearson pushed off, and scored the winning touchdown on the Immaculate Reception.

Who wants to tell him that's not the play Immaculate Reception refers to?
