It won't help when the first suspension is given to a pitcher who throws at an Astro

I'm guessing you started with the Kole Calhoun bit and worked around it.  Genius.

One of those that you needed to be seeking him in order to make a trade. Looked good against the Twins and might be a sleeper...like a Kevin Tapani-type pitcher in the long haul, or maybe jsut another soft tosser with limited major laague tme. But would've ben a risk to take, if had known. Twins could've matched this trade easily (maybe Rocky de la Torre or Wander Javier as well as another mid-level prospect).

The Twins have depth, but finding 40-man space, or even keeping in the system, will be a challenge in the next coming two years. You have to ask if names like Poppen, Dobnak, Stashak, Stewart and Thorpe are the future or just place-setters. We already have seen Gonsalves and Romero basically get passed by.

The Twins could afford to lose 8-10 prospects in the system and not really see a development loss, unless they decide to ALL prospects in 2020 and forego any minor league free agents. But that is doubtful as we have already seen the Twins go to the dump to add players at Rochester and elsewehre, rather than promote system guys.

I think it was Greg Holland who was signed late by the Cardinals just a year ago and was a disaster.

No - they should not feel good.  They signed a level three reliever - damn near level four.  They did nothing to raise the level of the pen to a winning level.

You are much more generous than I am.

They spent a lot of wasted time chasing the big name, and if you check my posts I was totally against it.  Turns out the cubs wish the Twins had signed him.  But to the point we did not need one big name, we needed a number of parts and they waited until the sweepstakes were over.  Morrison, Odorizzi, Lynn, Reed, Rodney, Duke, Motter, LaMarre, Cave, Belisle are at best a C- effort.

I did not like their aversion to the young players we had and I have not seen all their Twins Way guys shining in their jobs.
It is possible they will be great guys and have some magical plan, but right now count me as a non-believer who will be happy if you are the one that is right.

I assume Romero has an innings limit so to me a move to the bullpen lengthens his season.  I prefer that at least to option 1 and/or a Mid-august shutdown.

It might not be a surprise, but that does not make it a good idea.  Grossman has done well for us, but perhaps the league has figured out that if they throw strikes they remove his best offense - the walk.  We need someone better.

I pay very little attention to ESPN anymore, all they seem to care about is politics and the NBA.

    I'd go:

    Buxton CF
    Mauer 1B
    Dozier 2B
    Sano 3B
    Kepler RF
    Park/Vargas DH
    Polanco SS
    Rosario/Grossman LF
    Castro C

With Mauer batting after Buxton, Buck will get plenty of opportunities for stolen bases, and he can score from second on singles and first on doubles.

They could have let him pitch in relief. I still don't understand why they didn't consider a temporary stint in the bullpen for him last September and now this season.

And the Twins not playing Sano at third when Plouffe was down. Nunez is hot and we need to keep his bat in the lineup. Which is fine and all. But then you bring up a Beresford to sit on the bench. At this point in time, you bring up Rosario if you need a bench rider. Let's hope Kepler plays everyday.

Until they both wane, Nunez and Escobar should bump Dozier to the bench, sadly.

What to do with Park? When Sano comes back, let Park go to Rochester for a moment and tweak a bit!
