Thanks, this is what I was trying to understand, if the 3rd BC sent him, why would it be Sano's fault???

That would be the last straw.  T. C. needs to be an untouchable player.

I sure don't like to see Sanchez at the top of this list!  If he was a middle of the pack defensive catcher, his hitting numbers could be bearable behind the plate.  His numbers DON'T hold up as a "regular" DH.  I would rather have Kiriloff, Larnach, Rooker, Sano, or Arraez at DH over Sanchez.

I'm a little disappointed that Celestino didn't grab the 4th OF spot by the neck, because if he hits anything like he did at AAA last season he's wonderfully suited for it. But he didn't, so playing every day in AAA isn't the worst thing in the world. I still have hope for him that he can be a quality bat who can play all three OF spots.
It kinda feels like Cave sticking around in MLB camp is just some epic-level trolling of Twins fans. I have trouble believing that they would add him back to the 40-man just to have him around for the first few weeks of the season, even if he has turned in the kind of quality spring training ABs you would expect from a 29 year-old veteran with 4 seasons of MLB experience. If anything the twins are more likely to scour the waiver wire to see if anyone else is going to sneak someone through during last cuts rather than jam Cave back on the 40-man, but there's no question his presence is making some people around here twitchy AF.

I think next year is an unknown at this point.  Unless something dramatic happens I think it is safe to assume that CC will opt out.

But I wouldn't rule out the Twins keeping him.  It really depends on a couple of things.

    1) the chemistry between the Twins (players and FO) and CC
    2) what the Twins are doing to put together a WS Winning team.
    3) how CC and his family like the TC area.

Is it possible that a player has an MVP type season,  and enjoys playing here so much,  and also decides that 30.5 "Million Dollars"  is enough to play another beautiful summer in Minnesota?  I see that as being in the realm of possibility.  Call me crazy.

This sounded right to me, but it got me thinking so I looked up splits and was surprised at what I saw.
In 2021, 42% of all Twins PA’s came with men on base, and they hit 38% of their HR’s in that situation.
Over Buxton’s career, 43% of his PA’s have been with men on, and only 34% of his HR’s were in that situation. So he’s been a little more solo-homer prone, but not dramatically.
However in 2021, only 37% of his PA’s came with men on and 36% of his HR’s came with men on. So virtually no skew. He was almost equally likely to homer in either situation. It was just a matter of opportunity.
I did not expect the numbers to say that.

That is probably because he's either leading off the game, leading off an inning because he bats after the out-making machines we had in the 9 hole, or bats with bases empty because he follows the OBP black holes in the 7th, 8th, and 9th spots (292, .286, .262)

Given recent trade deadlines it is highly, highly unlikely these trade demands stick.  Hell, by next week it might dip.
We shouldn't pay for Montas like he's Walker Bueller.

I don't see why the team can't intend to compete and still scoff at bad trade demands.  Yes, it's a crappy spot to be in of their own making, but I'm not going to chase bad decisions with more bad decisions.

The fact that several teams were interested in the A’s pitchers and there wasn’t a trade, or even a ‘someone is close’ rumor, for EITHER pitcher, makes that speculation a fairly logical conclusion.

Showed the As they were very interested, then backed off the steep demands. Now it's just a matter of circling a good deal for both parties. Reminds me of how my wife and I got married. 😀
Here's hoping it ends as well for the Twins, too. But I do appreciate that this FO seems unwilling to make a too-rash move. Be interesting to see what happens next.

Great job of putting this signing in context. Getting ahead of things here, but if he has a typical Correa year, would Twins have a chance to keep him for year 2 (and potentially year 3) by upping his salary to, say, $40M?

I'd submit that fading "experienced" pitchers fail just as often, if not more spectacularly, than rookies. We only have to look back at 2021 for multiple examples. The difference is the rookies can use the experience, win or lose, to learn where they need to improve in order to up their game because they have youth and time on their side. The old "pro" we fished out of the dumpster on the other hand is going nowhere but home. That's something to keep in mind if we're really trying  to build for the future.
If the kid's healthy give him the 5th spot. It's no harder to throw a pitch in MLB than it is to throw the same pitch in the minors.

While I agree with the OP that it would be better to have a front of the rotation type starter instead of needing Winder for that spot, I don't think that means Winder can't be a solution.  The AAA numbers could be a bit misleading as he was struck by a ball in the neck and never was quite the same pitcher after that, eventually ending his season with a sore\tired arm.
The thing that is different about Winder compared to some of the other pitchers mentioned is that his fastball is right around 95mph the WHIP and K rate have been solid all the way up.  While he could definitely use more AAA seasoning all the numbers appear to point to him being successful at the MLB level.  Moving to MLB is a very tough transition as noted in the article, Berrios being a prime example.  Still you have to give guys a chance to know what they can do. Just like Berrios, Winder looks like he has the pitches to make it.  How that translates in his first few starts is hard to say but he has the stuff to make it.
Again to the OP's point we already have a rotation of young arms in Ober, and Ryan adding Winder would mean 3/5th's of the rotation would be fairly inexperienced arms.  Personally I don't trust Bundy's under 90 fastballs to be effective making the only fairly reliable starter Sonny Gray.  It is not a great position to be in and yet here we are.
Still the Twins have a number of near ready MLB arms in Winder, Canterino, Balazovich, Henriquez, Sands, Strotman, Duran.  With more guys needing to be added to the 40 man next year in SWR, Varland, SGL, Mooney and possibly others.  The Twins do need to find out what they have because they can't keep them all.  Hopefully rotating some of these guys through they can get  better feel for what they have or don't have.
Would I still like to see a front of the rotation arm like Montas sure but I think the Twins might be just fine leaving things the way they are.

This is not really a disagreement perse...
Yesterday I went to Baseball Trade Values(https://www.baseballtradevalues.com) and sorted through a list of possible MLB pitchers the Twins could go after.  I know we are hung up on the M&M boys from the As, but there are others.  Just not a lot.
Criteria: Value had to be above 20 (FM:39.6 and SM:14.1[yes this misses the 20 value but everyone talks about SM)
Also had to be a listed as at least a Medium in the opportunity to acquire them.
    So beyond the M&M brothers.
    Framber Valdez(Astros) 83.3
    Logan Webb(Giants) 71.5
    Luis Castillo(Reds) 66.0
    German Marquez(Rockies) 58.7
    Tristan McKenzie(Guardians) 58.7
    Pablo Lopez(Marlins) 57.1
    Luis Garcia(Blue Jays) 54.8
    Julio Urias(Dodgers) 48.2
    Tyler Mahle(Reds) 44.4
    John Means (Os) 41.8

I only used BTVs because it had a way to search and compare.

The right thing to have done, (but an IT career and starting a film career leaves little time to play GM), would be to download the lists from BTV and then add additional sorting criteria AFV, availability, Trade Value.  I have no idea on the true availability to the Twins, (e.g. Guardians trade in their division, Giants/Dodgers trading away anything, etc...)

So there are options, but if we don't get any of these or the M&M Boys then lets go with our pitchers instead of adding additional retreads.

Fingers Crossed the FO can pull a second miracle out of the hat that doesn't strip our farms system.
BTW Fun Fact: Only one pitcher was listed with an availability of NONE.
    Garret Cole, NYY.

    Ober is not a rookie.
While he is going through his sophomore season, if he shows he can pitch this year then odds are he's made it.
I do agree that we should probably have another starter if for no other reason then to give us more options.  Though Winder does look legit so far.
