Always thought the D-Backs would be a good place for Cave to get consistent ABs. As for Wade, I can’t imagine him getting dealt, if anything he’s probably Cave’s replacement.

Are we watching the same team? Since the beginning of 2019, Kepler has gotten on base at a higher rate than Rosario and hit for more power than Rosario. I think it's more likely the next few seasons will look much closer to 2019-2020 in terms of their offensive production rather than 2017-2018, when Kepler was still figuring things out at the plate and Rosario outperformed him. And that's not even taking into consideration that Kepler consistently grades as one of the best defensive corner outfielders in the game, while Rosario grades as well below average defensively. There's a good reason why Falvine prioritized locking up Kepler long-term instead of Rosario, and I'm very glad that they did.

The front office does seem more comfortable trading for minor league pitching prospects than drafting them. Duran, Alcala, Chalmers, Smeltzer and Valimont are decent acquisitions. As far as drafting Balazovic and Canterino look like their top selections. I do think they have added much needed depth to the farm system. This off season is critical in my opinion.  A few of these prospects are reaching the play them or trade them time.

In terms of position players and relievers the Twins farm system has been a great pipeline of talent. Unfortunately, there has been a distinct lack of starting pitchers being able to establish themselves at the major league level. The only guy since Berrios who has had moderate success has been Dobnak and he an undrafted free agent signed out of an independent league. Way too many former top 100 prospects have flamed out in the last 5 years including Meyer, Stewart, Gonsalves, Jay, and Romero. I'm hoping the next crop of Duran, Balazovic, Enlow, Canterino, Sands, and Chalmers has more success.

Trading Eddie after a down year for most our lineup doesn’t sound like the best plan to win in 2021. Wouldn’t extend him, but I also wouldn’t rely on a rookie to pick up where he left off. My preference would be to have him play out one more season and then QO him; which at 30 years old I’d expect him to reject in favor multi year deal.

Is there a stat tracked ranking players with opportunities with men on base? I found that Rosario has runners on (any base) in 44% of his PAs, but I have no idea what to compare that too. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Also, I'll state what I've said before: Rosario is a streaky 1.5 - 3 WAR corner OF who provides quality clutch hitting, but makes too many boneheaded mistakes. I just wish Rocco could get to him and cut out some of the gaffes. He's not irreplaceable, but not a guy who should be abandoned ASAP. With the current prospect talent at OF (Krilioff / Rooker (probably 1B tho) / Larnach / Sabato), it's pretty clear they won't be giving him an extension. But he certainly might be back in 2021 under his arb. price.

I agree with many that the Twins should strongly consider getting rid of one of their current LH-batting outfielders and replacing him with one who bats right. But I don't see why Rosario is the target. It should be Cave, not Rosario (or Kepler).

I have been lower on Rosario than some but I still think the Twins keep him next year unless they can work out a trade.  I just don't think DFA'ing him makes sense.  He is improving his chase and walk rate and while he isn't hitting the ball as hard as we would like he is still getting his fair share of HR's  I could see him splitting time with some of the young guys next year but he is still a valuable veteran and this team will still be in the think of things in the central.  I really like Larnach and Kirillof but who knows how they would adjust or be ready next year.  Kirillof has had plenty of injury issue's and Larnach hasn't been tested above AA so I still think keeping Eddi around for one more year makes sense.

All of that may be true, but "phasing out" a core veteran team member in the middle of a pennant race seems like an awful idea. I would like to see the prospects live though too. Wish they still expanded the rosters.

I'd like to get May back on a reasonable deal, maybe 3/18? Something in that range perhaps.

I'd let Odorizzi hit free agency, and only bring him back if his market is non-existent. We already have Berrios-Maeda-Pineda-Dobnak for 2021, and I would prefer to aim higher than Odo (give a big one year deal to Bauer, trade for a starter).

I wouldn't underestimate Adrianza's contibutions as a defender. He plays SS really well, and I don't think we have anyone else who can play it even close to Ehire's level. I believe Gordon is considered to be a below average fielder, not sure if he has a future in the MLB. Blankenhorn is more of a 2B/3B guy. I wouldn't pony up a bunch of money for Adrianza since his bat is mediocre at best, but I would be scouring the market for a premium SS/utility guy.

Of course, the pitching performances over the next few weeks and the playoff opponent match-ups are variables that would possibly impact these decisions.

Ignoring those two elements I would select in order:

    1. Maeda
    2. Berrios
    3. Pineda
    4. Hill

Dobnak / Odo available for long relief efforts, if any of the above can't get past the 3rd/4th inning.

Enough with the excuses from the FO like “but we got depth at our alternate site,” this team needs to make trade before the deadline if they’re really serious about winning.

Of all our top tier prospects Larnach is the one that the FO is most willing to deal, although I don’t think that’s gonna happen this time around. When it come to the most realistically tradable player in the system I gotta go with Rooker since he’s an older prospect with no chance for playing time along with the presence of the universal DH, which should increase his value. If there’s ever a time to trade him it’s now.

The guy that I'd go after is Robbie Ray. Put him in the bullpen and let him work with Wes Johnson (or let him start if Odorizzi/Hill/Bailey can't stay healthy). If his issues can be fixed he would be an interesting option for the play-offs either starting or out of the pen.

I don't think I'd rank them at the top personally. Lineup might be the best in baseball. Last year we were really nervous about the pen, and while it looks like we may have found some good ones, the fickle nature of relievers tells me that this could come back.

And we should be nervous about the rotation...
