Mike Sixel reacted to Otto von Ballpark in Average OPS By Position vs. Twins Starters
I appreciate the effort, but that article is very old (2007), its data even older (2004-2006), and beyond that, it is just generally flawed:

Fortunately, if you want to do your own research in that direction, there are great public tools available. I'd recommend the Fangraphs Splits Leaderboard, as its "position" split is by position played (not position qualified for, like some other Fangraphs pages), and it can also take custom date ranges, even spanning multiple seasons:
    https://www.fangraphs.com/leaders/splits-leaderboards
You'd probably need to copy and paste data into a spreadsheet to average the top 30 by PA at a given position (the PA filter only applies to the player list, not to the league-wide splits).

Why would the price drop later in the deadline if that's when trade happen? The data is not going to show that....

Mike Sixel reacted to Squirrel in Graterol Shoulder Impingement Q&A
I was diagnosed with a shoulder impingement (years ago now). It took a while before I could get back in the tennis court. Recovery involved rest, anti-inflammatories, and physical therapy. I also worked with a personal trainer along with a physical therapist. It took a few months.

Thorpe, Thorpe, Thorpe. That is all.....ok, not really.

Well written! And I'm with you on Gordon, long term 2.5-3 WAR player for many years....not a superstar most years, just a very good player.

Mike Sixel reacted to jharaldson in New Approach on Signing Yu Darvish
I agree the idea could be repurposed.  A 4 year/$140 million contract with $60 million being a signing bonus using the BAMTech money might get him to agree to a reduced term from the 5-7 years he is likely looking for.  I wouldn't be opposed to Falvine putting both options on the table.

That's the reason he is at 58
I have 10 OF ahead of him and about half can play CF.

On the other hand, Danny Santana

Spent 45 minutes chatting with English a couple of days ago. He's healthy. He had Lasik surgery in April. Was supposed to miss three weeks. That third week, he was playing his second (final) rehab game when he hurt his ankle. However, he came back for about 25-30 games at the end of the season and ended with five in Rochester. He also played 22 games in the AFL (one behind team leaders). He's healthy. He's talented. He and Granite are very similar in terms of skill set. Here's my thought. English probably has a little more upside. He's a little bigger/stronger. They're both incredible fast. English is a better outfielder and has a stronger arm. The two are friends and competitive with each other, which is fun to see.

If people have my book and have seen my updated top 30/50 rankings, I have Wade in the low-teens, with English and Granite in the mid-20s. Wade has a chance to be a quality everyday left fielder (or a 4th OF). Of the three, all of them can play CF, but Wade and Granite are more left fielders whereas English can absolutely be a centerfielder (even if he never gets that chance because of Buxton).
