David Beimers got a reaction from Parker Hageman in What’s Gotten Into Caleb Thielbar?
Michael Hughes of the Northfield News has written several good articles on Caleb Thielbar over the past few years. As Parker notes above, he spent a lot of time with Driveline and using Rapsodo to break down and improve his pitches. He's definitely used technology to his advantage, both for his fastball and his curve. Here's a clip from a Hughes' article from last July:
    "Reinventing himself
While it’s true Thielbar has been throwing harder the last two seasons, it’s not as simple as waking up one morning with a couple extra ticks of velocity on his fastball.
Prior to the 2017 season, Thielbar was recommended by a friend to the philosophies of Driveline Baseball, a baseball training facility based out of Seattle. The facility’s website boils down its ethos simply to, “identifying what’s holding you back and developing a plan to fix it.”
Initially, Thielbar enrolled in the online program, which he described as the “basic” version of the services Driveline typically offers. Still, it helped add velocity to Thielbar’s fastball and livened his secondary pitches in the months leading up to spring training.
Once he arrived in Florida, however, the improvements and alterations fell apart, leading to the Marlins releasing him at the end of March. Knowing that Driveline’s “basic” program yielded results, Thielbar knew he needed to fully invest in the program if he wanted another opportunity.
“I’m just going to go out there for a couple weeks and learn what I need to learn,” he thought at the time.
After that first trip, he returned for his third stint with the St. Paul Saints and posted a 2.01 ERA in 22 1/3 innings, which led to a minor-league contract offer with the Tigers. Thielbar has since visited Driveline every winter.
“The technology side of the game, I’ve been able to see how all my pitches spin and I’ve been able to adjust a little bit to make them even better,” he said. “It’s just a combination of everything, really, that’s put it all together. I’m not all the way to where I want to be yet, but I’m not sure if I’ll ever be able to get there just because of some limitations with my body, but I’m trying.”"

He's not off to a good start, but no reason to call him a bust. Just let him play it out and see what happens.
If we're being honest, the Twins don't exactly having a good record with their 1st round draft picks the last 10 years. Hopefully a couple of these guys can turn it around.

I'll tack on an observation that might trigger the downvotes...
I made my first trip to Target Field at the beginning of the month; had a great time at Target Field for two games against the Rays. One loss, one win - but both pretty fun games in all honesty.  I left Minneapolis on a pretty good vibe.
On the way out of town, I stopped off I-35 in Lakeville at a Kwik Trip to fill up and grab a cup of coffee / snacks for kids on the road.  I filled the tank and went inside to pay wearing my Twins baseball cap.  This was apparently a conversation point with the Lakeville locals on a Sunday morning. Conversations went something like this:
"I'm glad you're still wearing the hat - it's been a tough season."
"Yeah - it's been tough, but there have been a few good moments here and there. This weekend at Target Field was pretty fun."
"Oh, it will never be as fun as it was in 1991.  At least we've had Vikings football to look forward to."

Oh god, if Reusse could stop living in 1985 so fervently, he could have real points here. All he could talk about forever is innings pitched by starters and then later he props up Tampa and how great they do with a small payroll. And then LITERALLY IN THE NEXT BREATH he rips the Twins for not letting starters pitch through difficulty,  entirely unaware of the irony of that conversation thread.
Sigh. He literally does not understand modern baseball. This entire audio clip, while it has some merit superficially, the analysis is pure trash and based in outmoded ideas but then propped up by naming teams who are the MOST against what Reusse is talking about.
Blech. Hot take garbage. Which is too bad because if someone approached those same problems without being stuck in the thinking of the mid-80s, there may be some salient points to be gathered there.

No. They do not have the pitching.
It would be a mistake to try to sign several guys a bargain prices and hope to squeeze out one more year. Instead they need to sign one pitcher spending in the mid 20s per year. That would have been the cost of Berrios in free agency.
They need to find the rest either in-house, in trade or be better than everyone else at finding a Chris Flexen. Someone that comes out of nowhere and is young enough with control to be counted on for a few seasons. I expected Falvey to be the guy that can find those pitchers.
No more one year stop gap pitchers. They don’t plug the gap and it only gets bigger the next year.

I will consider it a massive failure if they trade Buxton, the kind of thing that would make me want to see this front office dismissed.
I don't care if it's the right baseball move or not, I want to see Byron Buxton in a Twins uniform for a very long time. He's the kind of guy a fanbase can rally around, like we SHOULD have rallied around Mauer but didn't.

What the hell is wrong with Kirilloff today? First the bonehead base running cost us runners on second and third, and now this! Three runs in the balance.

This is a good question. WPA is split between the 2 teams in the game. The winning team, cumulatively, will contribute .500 WPA, the losing team, -.500. Shoemaker’s -.433 is out of a possible -.500 for the Twins as the collective losing team.

Brilliant pinch-hitting move putting Sano in there.   We almost had a rally starting, no way we would want that to continue.

    Looking for silver linings:
The Twins are 2-0 when Tyler Duffey is suspended?
The Twins didn’t lose any ground to Detroit, who also lost today?
The Twins are still 2–1 when playing as the Cocaine Dentists?

    HIP HIP!!!!
Season hasn't been what we hoped, but man, it's fun to see these guys win, especially against the Sox. Sano with an absolute monster game that could be the start of one of his hot streaks. The bullpen that we expected to be good showed up in a huge way tonight. Ober was fine in his first start, and probably showed enough to be deserving of another look sometime this year. What a win. Enjoy this one!!
