I'm continually confused by statements that the FO has "no idea what it is doing" "they never make good decisions" etc...............
They literally won the division the last two years.
You can be disappointed in this year, I think everyone is. But .... I think saying they are clueless idiots and we are only ever sold hope for the future....seems to completely ignore the last two years.
PS. Before you point out "last year doesn't count".....every team played under the same conditions, and the Twins won. It isn't their fault Covid happened....

He's not off to a good start, but no reason to call him a bust. Just let him play it out and see what happens.
If we're being honest, the Twins don't exactly having a good record with their 1st round draft picks the last 10 years. Hopefully a couple of these guys can turn it around.

The FCL Twins played a double header, with game 1 a completion of previously suspended game.
Game 2 featured some notable performances:
3rd Rd pick Cade Povich pitched two scoreless innings in his pro debut. He gave up one hit and struck out three.
13th Rd pick  David Fiesta also debuted with two scoreless innings also giving up one hit. He struck out two.
Competitive Balance Pick Noah Miller went 2 for 4 with an inside the park home run. He scored two runs and drove in two and raised his average to .300.
Undrafted signee Malik Barrington made his third appearance and surrendered his first run in pro ball. He pitched 2 innings with 3 hits, 1 walk, and 1 run. 5 of 6 outs were via strikeout. He's got a pretty impressive first 8 innings pitched in pro ball.
Emmanuel Rodriguez also homered, going 1 for 3 with a walk.

A Celestino/Buxton/Kepler outfield is an amazing defensive outfield that will remain healthy for no fewer than two outs into Opening Day.

Permanent rule from before Covid hit, and I kinda hate it.
I understand not allowing the entire 40-man in September but 28 is too effing low for rebuilding teams who need to try out young players. 30 would have been a much better middle ground to appease owner cheapness and other considerations that went into the 28-man decision.

Sure Colome didn't have his best outing, but Jeffers absolutely has to make a better effort to block that pitch that allowed the tying run to score. It was not a good pitch whatsoever and that's on Colome. However, Jeffers absolutely has to get in front of that ball. All he did was kind of move his body and throw his glove in front of it. You can't let a ball by you like that when there are two outs in the 9th and the tying run is on third.

Sure, that's fine. I understand not every pitch can be stopped. It was a terrible pitch by Colome. The problem is Jeffers seemingly made no effort to get his body in front of the pitch. I think the cause of that is how the Twins are having their catchers set up to receive the pitch. Just seems to me in that situation every effort should be made to not allow the tying run to score on a ball that gets by the catcher.

I'm sorry for wanting to see the catcher make a better effort to move his body in front of a ball with the tying run on 3rd with two outs in the 9th inning. That's literally all I said. I don't expect every single pitch ever to be blocked by the catcher. It was a horrible pitch by Colome.
Everything else you added is putting words in my mouth.

You can't run an actual team like a fantasy/video game. There are actually people involved and the human element impacts your actions in both the short and long term.
Yes, Colome is not coming back next year but he's been pitching well over his last 9 appearances until yesterday. A reliever is pitching well, has a bad outing and gets cut? Good luck signing anyone good to a 1-year deal next season.
We don't have a young SS ready to play in the majors so, who do we replace Simmons with, exactly? One of the retreads from AAA who also won't be part of the future?
Pineda is a contender to get re-signed next season and with his current relationship might be gotten for a reasonable price. They're going to need some veterans for the rotation, because betting on all rookies next season is a recipe for disaster. When healthy, he's a good pitcher. Cut him and he'll never wear a Twins uniform again.
Sorry to see that Thorpe looks like he's never going to put it together. Sounds like the shoulder is trash, and that's a shame. I had hopes for him, but he's never been able to put it together. Maybe he'll get healthy for one more go this year, but I expect he'll fall off the 40 man now. Too bad: he had talent.

I voted Thorpe. I feel like at this point the Twins already know what they have in him. With all of the 40 man discussion we have had on the site recently, it would make the most sense to get one last look at him.
I would like to see Strotman but he hasn't been impressive in his starts so far at St Paul.
Joe Ryan would be my top choice but I don't see how it makes sense for him to come back from the Olympics, not throw in a competitive game for however many days, then throw him into a MLB game. That's not a recipe for success at all.

Matt Canterino is an absolute madman out there pitching and I love it.
I love how he sprints off the mound back to the dugout and makes sure he jumps over the foul line.
Then he has a big smile for his player picture on milb.com
    It's great.

I do give him credit for that incredible diving catch on Saturday. I guess one can't really say total absence of defensive value.

    The Twins season so far.
    April 1 through May 20: 14-28 record
    May 20 through August 15: 38-38 record
This is shaping up to be a fascinating season for reasons I doubt any of us imagined. Through some bad luck, bad play, and a seemingly indifferent attitude, the early season Twins floundered badly through 6-7 weeks of play. Since that point, the team has certainly scuffled and looked bad but overall, they've posted a .500 record through basically half a season.
It really goes to show how a team can tank an entire season by playing badly in the first few weeks.

He is young and has options so I have no problem with them sending him down until room is needed on the 40 man.
He needs to be replaced on the current roster though. He has been terrible so I wouldn't be upset if he was released.

So as soon as a guy starts having a good season and plays well...ie Polanco....there are 2 comments within the first 5 to trade him.  I just dont understand this mentality.  Why do so many here start trying to trade a cost controlled board line Allstars?  What are you hoping to achieve?

It's nice to see the team still has some fight late in games.  Wins and losses aren't all that important to me at this point in the season, but it is still nice to have some respectability.
