If Buxton is healthy, when he is healthy, play him. Play him.

I know he could play it, but after listening to Lewis' comments about his injury I would not want to put him back in CF.  He sounds like he will be very risk adverse defending CF in the future.  He basically said, I should have just let the double drop and save the risk of injury.  Although I would agree in many situations do not risk hurting yourself, in that play he was just running after the ball and jumped for it.  If he will not be willing to go all out and jump for balls without hitting walls, he will not be a good defender in CF.  Not saying he should not have such a mind set, but can you think if Hunter had that thought process?

I agree with everything in the article except for one small quibble.
"Dealing for Pablo Lopez, re-signing Carlos Correa, and bringing in Kyle Farmer all drew headlines. The acquisition of Taylor, though, could provide the most significant dividends and ripple effects for the Twins."
I'm my opinion, signing Correa is hands down the most significant move and will provide the most significant dividends and ripple effects. All the depth ripples out from having him at SS for the long haul.
I'm not convinced the Twins make the other depth moves, including acquiring Taylor, if they'd not won the Correa lottery.
Again, I'm nitpicking, and wholeheartedly agree Taylor will be a key and underrated player for this Twins team.
I'm excited to see him and Buck patrolling the outfield together, hopefully soon.

I'm very happy he's on the roster.  But the less he plays, the better I expect our Twins will do.
If we look back at 2023 as him being the starting CF, look out.

Some of that is because WAR overvalues defense (especially with a Flyball staff) but it doesn’t matter.
Michael A. Taylor was a brilliant acquisition. I agree the most significant.
Even his batting average last year was higher than Buxton by 30 points and Kepler by 27 points and yes batting average does matter. Just ask Luis Arraez or Rod Carew!

MLB added a bunch of new rules, but none of them allowed a team to score runs while on defense. Sorry, but I disagree with this. The Twins outfield defense wasn't an issue last year, and it still wouldn't have been this year had Gallo and Gordon split backup CF duties. This just made the offense worse, and the offense was and still is a problem.

He is a great get, he will be a positive WAR player if he fills in all season in center no matter how he hits.  Buxton being able to play center unlocks more usefulness that doesn't show on the stat line.  I really like him available as a late game sub either on defense or running the bases.  He can be used as a weapon off the bench.

I'm definitely going to love the pitch clock when I'm sitting out at the cold Home Opener next week, that's for sure!!

If they get rid of the pitch clock for the postseason expect to see a bunch of advertising during at-bats. I'm sure you'll enjoy that a lot more than a fast paced baseball game.

While I hate the ghost runner during the season and in the post season. Heck I dont even like it in slow pitch softball, but understand they are trying to get in three games an evening, so okay.
But I do like the clock so far. . It has always been frustrating to watch hitters fiddle around with their batting gloves and re-landscaping the batters box after every single pitch and worse, pitchers that seem reluctant to even ever throw the ball. Many times I have simply turned off the game as it drags on and on because of this.

Strong disagree. Other sports don't change their rules for the post season, and neither should baseball. I have no more interest in watching 3.5 hour games (with 30 minutes of actual action) in October than I do now.

Absolutely wrong. The NBA doesn’t change the shot clock to 35 seconds once the playoffs hit. The NFL doesn’t change the play clock to 50. You’re not losing any drama or anything with the pitch clock, you’re losing hitters do absolutely nothing for no reason. Watch the 91 World Series. It was suspenseful as hell and players weren’t wasting any time like they do now. Get in the box/on the mound. They’ll get used to it come October.

Worse than the combined signings of Archer and Bundy the previous off-season.
If Rocco ever hands the umps a lineup card with him at leadoff, he should be fired on the spot - not after the game!
