TCSquad reacted to KBJ1 in Twins Playoff Roster: Bullpen
Stewart, Paddock & Varland are a Hugh boost to the pen.
With a fully healthy offense (a big IF) this team could be poised for a deep run!

I agree. It'll be over in 2 games. See ya next year.

Yeah TBH I think I leave Ober off the WC roster. For two reasons
1. He isnt used to high leverage relief so not really a big asset there
2. He is imo the clear cut option to start game 1 of ALDS should we use 3 guys in WC.

I honestly think the AL is so wide open that even if the Twins get knocked out early it would still be an exciting race. On the NL side it looks like the Braves should have it locked down but any team could get hot like the Phillies last year and make it interesting. In reality I'm coming in with absolutely zero expectations and just hope the Twins can end their losing streak so we can finally stop hearing about it.

TCSquad reacted to stringer bell in Is Matt Wallner's Playoff Roster Spot in Jeopardy Amidst Slump?
Unmentioned as a potential replacement is Trevor Larnach, who had a good week with the Saints last week. Wallner has seemingly passed Larnach, but maybe that isn’t the case.

TCSquad reacted to Linus in Did the Twins Mishandle Bailey Ober in 2023?
You say there were other ways to handle him but don’t say what those other ways were. They needed him taking a regular turn to try and win the division. I’m pretty critical of the FO but don’t really any mishandling here. They had a good rotation all season long and Bailey got thru an entire season without injury. Sounds like a pretty good outcome to me.

TCSquad reacted to tony&rodney in Did the Twins Mishandle Bailey Ober in 2023?
Ober was still pitching ok when the Twins decided to send him to St. Paul. Bailey was clearly not as sharp however and even if he felt good the pitches were beginning to miss by just enough to be a concern.
I'm not sure why Ober wasn't put on the IL with "tired arm", but it was likely a decision based on not wanting Ober off the team for 15 days as opposed to available as needed from the Saints roster.
Ober likely gets one start in St. Paul before he is called back. I'm thinking Ober starts a playoff game if the Twins advance beyond the first round with Maeda ready in relief. There are still 22 games left in the season. Plenty of action to go.
The Twins made fair decisions even if it might stink that Ober misses some MLB roster days.

TCSquad reacted to CRF in Diamond Sports Bankruptcy Coming to a Head: What Does That Mean for Twins TV Deal?
I just hope that we ALL have some kind of reasonable option to watch the games...whatever that might be. I guess we should find out something soon.

TCSquad reacted to Vanimal46 in Diamond Sports Bankruptcy Coming to a Head: What Does That Mean for Twins TV Deal?
I am pretty confident that the Twins will not be broadcast on Bally Sports at the end of the season. Sounds like we are next, along with Cleveland and Arizona, to likely break away from Diamond Sports.
The good news is MLB acted swiftly with the Padres and it should triple the amount of homes who can watch their games. My hope for the cord cutters is MLB will choose some channels on YouTube TV or Hulu Live TV to broadcast the games so more people can watch the Twins.
Revenue sharing has to be strongly considered once the collapse of Diamond Sports is final. Most teams will never be able to recapture the revenue from their old TV contracts. Other teams like the Yankees and Dodgers will have an enormous advantage if their RSN deals remain in tact.

TCSquad reacted to jmlease1 in Series Preview: Cleveland Comes to Town...Let's Play Four!
The "oh, we can't call anyone up because the Saints are in Buffalo" is pretty silly: this is a billion dollar team, not a tiny non-profit. There's plenty of flights out of Buffalo to get a player here in a few hours if needed. They're not coming in from Katmandu.
i think the Twins take 3 of 4. (I'd love the sweep, but I'm not gonna be greedy) Their starting pitching will keep them in every game and I'm starting to feel some confidence in the offense again. twins are a good home team and have been a little unlucky so far this year (only 4-10 in 1-run games). Time to get it in gear.
Predictions: Gallo breaks out of his slump and clocks 2 dingers this series, Polanco comes back hitting, and because I keep talking about how we probably need to move on from him Max Kepler makes me look like a fool and has his best series of the season. Lopez goes at least 6, and Joe Ryan acts like the last game never happened and goes 7.

TCSquad got a reaction from Melissa in What Can Twins Expect From Alex Kirilloff?
Able to catch a few games of AK's at CHS Field. Even with their smaller spring crowds, hearing the ovations him and Jorge would get were always fun. And seeing him mash over the home run porch in right onto the roof is giving us visions of Jim Thome hitting the flagpole in right at Target Field!

When Buxton is ready to play center again, Twins will have a right-handed DH or pinch-hitter off of the bench then.

Gallo's been ok at first, especially compared to Solano, and he is a big target to throw to, but I don't think he's as good a first baseman as Kirilloff and I think Gallo is probably a better outfielder than AK.

Polanco with his clutch hitting and nifty defense is the spark this team needed. Hopefully Kiriloff isn't too far behind.

Nice summary - no debates here.
My take-aways are that Ober needs to have the Maeda spot and Maeda needs to get healthy and start in the BP.
Second, for now my disgust with the Gallo signing is lost in the destroyed files section of my office.
Third, I thought we had a chance for a sweep when we scored 6 runs in game three, but I blame management. Maeda should have been pulled quickly. I also question why we would bench our best players when playing the Yankees.

If the Twins' groundcrew could get away with it, they should hang this sign up all over the visitors' clubhouse and dugout next week when the Yankees are at Target Field.

TCSquad reacted to TopGunn#22 in Examining Saturday's Sticky Situation in the Twins-Yankees Game
I think Squirrel nailed it. On another topic, I'm frustrated that 15 games into the season we have ONE stolen base!!!! There are teams with more SB's (significantly) than we have even attempted. 29 Major League managers have determined they are going to take advantage of the new rules. I would like someone in the media to ask Rocco if he's just waiting for the "perfect" situation to steal a base or if he just doesn't believe in the SB as a part of the game at all.
O.K. Thanks for letting me vent.

I think you meant to say Chisholm...it was Jazz Chisolm that slid into 2nd and hit Farmer's knee. Soler hit the homer after that.

TCSquad reacted to MMMordabito in Twins Home Opener Moving to Friday - Official
The schedulers purposely keep Friday vacated on the game schedule to allow for an easy move to more desirable weather on Opening Day. It's not like any other day on the schedule. They're actually setting it up so they don't screw people over. Anyone making plans should just keep Friday open as well. Two days notice is actually quite accommodating, IMO.
