Canton Clark reacted to jishfish in Twins Minor League Report (7/26): Walks Will Haunt at Any Level
Everyday I just become more and more thankful Brooks Lee dropped to us last year. What an absolute steal!!
Maybe this is optimistic, but I keep coming back to "switch-hitting Justin Turner" as a comp for him. Not necessarily a superstar/perennial MVP candidate, but just a super solid-professional hitter that you can plug into the 3 hole for a decade.
.275/.375/.475 (.850 OPS)
K%=15% -- BB%=10%
20-25 HRs and 35-40 2Bs
Obviously that's a 75th+ percentile outcome and he has to prove he can do it at the big league level, but I look at what Lee is doing this year versus what Turner has done for the past decade, and I think the similarities are pretty clear.

Canton Clark got a reaction from Mark G in Twins Trade Candidate: Jorge Polanco
Wrote an article advocating for this last year with hope the Mariners would be willing deal for him.
Wanted Matt Brash + .. Now, not sure they'd even be willing to do Brash now. If they are, would be all over it. Was dominant as a reliever. Posted a 2.13 era over his last 30 games once he was moved to the bullpen. Still has a shot at starting one day as well.
Would be a great 1-2 punch with Duran the next 5 years.

Canton Clark reacted to TwinsDr2021 in Looking at 3 Under-The-Radar Shortstop Trade Targets
Sure they may not have spent huge money of SS, but there have stars all around the diamond and pitching staff, can the Twins say that?
Also which ace are you hoping to sign?
Bauer, Price, Sale, DeGrom, Verlander, Syndergaard, Kershaw, Carrasco, Manaea, Gibson, Minor Heaney, Kluber, Bassitt, Rondon?
Also which serious bat is available in FA besides Judge? maybe Arenado opts out or Rizzo? Turner, Bogaerts, Belt, Hosmer, Turner, Abreu, Sano, Bell,......?

Canton Clark reacted to D.C Twins in Projecting Minnesota’s Competition in the Carlos Correa Bidding War
Is the market better for Correa this offseason than last? Honest question.
It seems like it is not much better, so why do we think someone is suddenly going to through 300+ million at him THIS off season
I don't see NY, Boston or LA being big players for reasons mostly already covered.
Without them bidding other teams up.... it will be hard to break the bank
Phili seems like the most likely landing place, but if nobody is bidding them up....... (That is where is Boras comes in I guess... he certainly has tricked teams into bidding themselves up in the past)

Canton Clark reacted to Karbo in Carlos Correa Makes His Decision Clear
I would give him 7-8 years at 33 mil per. He is worth every penny. This is a very young team that needs some veteran leadership, and he fits that bill. After all it has become clear that Rocco is not a good leader.

Canton Clark reacted to Seth Stohs in Carlos Correa Makes His Decision Clear
Why the vitriol? He isn't doing or saying anything that wasn't expected.
He was always going to opt-out. That was clear from Day 1.
I thought he phrased it very well. It's actually a really good analogy, very true.
Also, why would he get any less than Seager got?
He's still young for a free agent, so he should get 10 years (like Seager), but certainly would get at least 8 years. And he'll get $30-35 million per year. At the lowest, he's looking at 8 years and $240 million, and at the highest, it could be 10 years and $325 million. All of that is more than 1 year, $35.1 million. Pretty sure none of us would do any different.

Canton Clark got a reaction from LA VIkes Fan in Planning for a Post Correa Reality in Minnesota
Why enter a market that already has Turner, Bogaerts, and Swanson?
Makes a lot more sense for Correa to resign a newly structured deal similar to what he signed this past offseason.
Twins extend the current deal for 5/165 (so 2 added years) with the same ability to opt out. Protects himself and gives him the leverage of being the lone all star shortstop in the 2023 - 2024 class. Still would only be 29.

Shoulder Injury coupled with his fastball velo going from 94.1 last year to 92.8 this year, it's a pass.

Canton Clark got a reaction from Mike Sixel in A Surprising Starter for the Twins to Target In Trade
Intersting thought... Pretty similar article written here a month ago .. More of a deep dive on what a deal with the Padres could look like, using essentially the exact same logic and argument for acquiring Snell.
I'll claim this this blog as well .. Unfortunately my previous account that went by the name of "Tim" wont login ;(
