I give Falvey and Levine a pass on development.  why?  I’m glad you asked.   Because the 2020 season was wiped out and 2021 saw our best prospects injured.  Going into 2023 we have Winder, Ober, Ryan, Varland, Woods-Richardson, Henriguez,  Balazovich, and Testa and Dobnak is there somewhere, Duran, Moran, Jax.  So they are getting pitching developed. And now it’s finding out who takes the next steps and who stalls out.  But there is enough here to see a lot of potential.  Losing out on 1-2 seasons of development in the middle stages hurt them a lot.  I say let’s give them 2 more seasons to see what we have.  On judging their trades they were good at the time they were made.  Overall I don’t think they did too bad if a job.  I was happy with what they did last season.

Despite the 2nd year option, I believe he was really signed for depth, and to be a place holder. If he does better than that and earns his option being picked up, it's a bonus for the Twins. Even in a good, healthy season you will need 7-9 SP over the course of a season, and the Twins have that right now. Bundy is a part of that, for the moment.
In addition to injuries, there is a real innings concern this year due to young arms as well as Archer's comeback. I wouldn't be surprised to see a couple "tired arm" IR stays here and there.
Bundy had a really bad game. Then he had another in which he was probably ill, and the defense had a lousy game behind him, offering no favors. The game could have been very different with better play.
You absolutely give him a few more starts to see what you really have. He's not the pitcher he was in his first 3 starts, and I think we all knew that. But I don't think he's as bad as his past 2 appearances either. I can't say exactly how many starts he gets because  there are too many variables. But the good news is depth and upcoming depth will allow the Twins to walk away if necessary, unlike last year when they almost had no choice.

Hmmm… kind of think that the point was to increase ticket sales short term, make it appear that the Twins would compete (as was said before the season began), give some time for either Lewis or Martin to prove themselves, and then trade off Correa when it became apparent the Twins wouldn't be in contention this year.  Correa, though, by not hitting is doing his best to make sure that the Twins have him for the full three year contract.

I have run out of fingers and toes to count the mistakes our FO has made over the years. I try to remain optimistic, however, and don't reflect on the past. As much as I feel this we aren't going to be "competitive" this year, progression should be the focus.

I think it is entirely possible that the FO had no intention of contending in 2022 (they didn't sign a legitimate free agent pitcher, they didn't fix the bullpen, traded Donaldson in a salary dump and got weaker at third and catcher in the process) but then Correa literally fell into their lap. They got back on the "next year" track by trading Rogers to get younger and cheaper.
The Correa signing confused fans and maybe confused the FO a little too. Inking him is hard to criticize though because, in the worst case, they may feel he represents value for $17.5 million (his salary for half a year) in the form of trade value and optionality if lightning somehow struck
Of course, they could never cop to not contending as their tickets sales have been shakier than the lead singer in a rhumba band. Four dollar gas and chicken for millionaires only isn't going to shore that up either.

I'm picturing a lot of pitching staff movement come May 1. Who goes. Who stays. Who comes up from St. Paul (Minaya, Smeltzer, Moran ready yet, can they keep Cano down on the farm much longer, Megill.)

    Of course, Lewis Thorpe, yes!

    1) It's in our job description. And we've been doing this for a lot longer than a year.
    2) 100% perfectly doesn't describe anything about the Minnesota Twins for decades. It's not like we haven't been patient through bad decisions in the FO and the dugout.
    3) Last year, we just so happened to be right. The problems we were screaming about after the first few series were the problems that sunk the season. It's possible that trading away Rogers with no clear plan for a shut-down arm to take the 9th is going to be a problem. A big one.
    4) Thankfully, we have not yet been mathematically eliminated from contention. See, there's optimism!

IMO At least we won't lose yet another playoff game to extend the streak. Please prove me wrong by 1)making the playoffs and 2)winning a playoff game without a single proven, solid BP pitcher. Hate this trade if we think we are competing, love it if we are true to the fact we really are not

I like the trade in that they traded Brent Rooker, trade from an area we have an over abundance (bat/ no glove). I didn't like the trade because it involved Taylor Rogers. Unless the Twins offered him a reasonable extention offer and he turned it down and he was dead set to walk, I'd say it was a good deal, but my impression is they did not, I'd place Rogers close to Pressley, closer is a position of importance and need. Rogers gave us some security there and we traded him away for 2 ?s at positions we had covered!
At face value it was a good trade but looking at a place of need we lost, instead of shoring up areas of need, they downgraded the closing position.

The Yankees beat us again.. they got the best player in the trade, the better of the two catchers, and the better of the two other infielders. Basically they gave us what they no longer wanted and we accepted it.
